$48-$50 per hour Reports to: Executive Director About CALL Primrose CALL Primrose is a nonprofit organization providing free, nutritious groceries to low-income individuals and families throughout San Mateo County. Located in downtown Burlingame, CALL Primrose operates a welcoming, client-choice food pantry where individuals and families can select fresh produce, dairy, meat and poultry, staple foods, and culturally appropriate groceries at no cost. CALL Primrose serves communities throughout the Mid-Peninsula and relies on a combination of food-bank partnerships, grocery rescue, community donations, grants, volunteers, and individual donors to provide essential food assistance to thousands of local residents. About the Position CALL Primrose is seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our busy food pantry. This position is responsible for ensuring that pantry operations are safe, efficient, organized, and welcoming for clients, volunteers, and staff. The Operations Supervisor will supervise daily activities, coordinate volunteers, oversee inventory and food distribution, support staff, and help ensure that every client receives nutritious food with dignity and respect. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor or operations professional who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and making a direct impact in the community. Food pantry experience is helpful but not required . Candidates with supervisory or operations experience in retail, hospitality, warehouse/logistics, healthcare, customer service, or other fast-paced environments are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily pantry operations and ensure an efficient, organized, and welcoming client experience. Supervise and support staff and volunteers working in the pantry. Coordinate daily volunteer assignments and ensure volunteers understand their responsibilities. Oversee food receiving, storage, inventory organization, stocking, and distribution. Monitor inventory and communicate food and supply needs to the Executive Director. Help coordinate food deliveries, grocery rescue, and other food procurement activities. Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, safety, and organizational procedures are followed. Address operational issues and make appropriate decisions when unexpected situations arise. Assist with scheduling and maintaining adequate staffing and volunteer coverage. Train and orient staff and volunteers as needed. Work directly with clients and help resolve questions or concerns professionally and respectfully. Support special programs and events, including holiday and seasonal food distributions. Maintain accurate operational records and assist with tracking program activity. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, organization, safety, and the overall client experience. Work closely with the Executive Director and other staff to support CALL Primrose's mission and organizational goals. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: At least 2-3 years of supervisory, management, or operations experience . Experience supervising employees, volunteers, or teams. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. The ability to remain calm and effective in a busy, sometimes unpredictable environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with inventory, logistics, scheduling, receiving, retail, warehouse, hospitality, or similar operations is highly desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook . The ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions. A strong commitment to treating clients, volunteers, and coworkers with dignity and respect. The ability to perform the physical requirements of a food distribution environment, including standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting and moving food boxes and supplies. Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or another language commonly spoken in San Mateo County is a plus, but not required.
