Full-Time | Monday•Friday, 8:30 AM•5:00 PM (Flexibility required to support 24/7 operations)
Competitive Compensation:
$85,000•$100,000

You will oversee multi-site operational functions across our Orange County residential facilities located in Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach, Irvine and San Diego.

At Alter Behavioral Health, the Operations Manager is the dedicated leader responsible for the excellence and consistency of residential operations across multiple facilities. You will supervise floor-level leaders (Care Path Managers, Operations Leads) and ensure all daily procedures, client safety measures, and compliance standards are rigorously maintained. This crucial management role is essential for translating strategic directives into high-quality, compliant daily care and maintaining a highly effective residential environment. What You'll Do Residential Management & Oversight Oversee and ensure consistent execution of daily residential schedules, routines, and policies across assigned facilities. Manage overall client capacity, census management, and bed utilization in collaboration with Admissions. Optimize operational workflows for admissions, discharges, client logistics, and shift transitions. Serve as the high-level operational contact for facility issues, escalating maintenance or safety concerns to the Director of Facility Operations. Staff Leadership & Development Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management to Care Path Managers and Operations Leads. Manage staffing levels, ensure adequate shift coverage, and authorize time-off requests. Oversee compliance with staff training requirements and competency standards (CPR, CPI, etc.). Lead regular operational meetings to drive accountability and alignment among residential leadership. Compliance & Quality Assurance Conduct routine, comprehensive operational and documentation audits of residential sites to ensure compliance with DHCS, DSS, and Joint Commission standards. Ensure immediate and accurate reporting and follow-up on all critical incidents and facility-level concerns. Implement corrective action plans based on audit findings or quality improvement initiatives. Maintain a state of constant audit readiness across all managed facilities. Logistics & Resource Management Oversee operational budget expenditures related to residential supplies and non-clinical resources. Coordinate logistics for essential operational needs, including internal moves, supply distribution, and equipment readiness. Work closely with the Facilities team to ensure timely completion of work orders and preventative maintenance. What We're Looking For Experienced multi-site operational leader with a background in 24/7 care settings. Expert knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards in residential behavioral health. Decisive problem-solver capable of managing complex logistics and staff escalations. Exceptional organizational, communication, and team mentorship skills. Proactive manager with a track record of driving operational consistency and efficiency. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of management experience overseeing multi-site residential or healthcare operations. Advanced training in process improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma). Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational budgets. Experience in behavioral health accreditation or licensing survey preparation. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field preferred. At least five (5) years of progressive operational experience in a healthcare or residential care environment. At least two (2) years of direct supervisory experience managing managers or shift leads. Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations (DHCS, DSS, Joint Commission) for licensed residential facilities. Requirements Valid California Driver's License required (for travel between facilities). CPR & First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start). Must pass Live Scan fingerprint clearance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, and movement between multiple residential facilities. Ability to navigate multi-level homes, including stairs. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., supplies, equipment). Ability to safely intervene in operational or behavioral escalations using trained techniques. Ability to operate computers and documentation systems.
