ABOUT THE ROLE
Dawn Ranch is looking for a knowledgeable and spirited wine captain who is deeply curious about wine and food to join our wine bar team to serve resort guests as well as the general public. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating unforgettable guest experiences, detail oriented, enjoys working as part of a team, and interested in growing within a world-class hospitality environment.
Essential Duties:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to lift and carry wine cases safely Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach repetitively. Ability to grasp, lift, carry, and move supplies including but not limited to glass racks, cases, kegs, and ice. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures, including food handling, responsible beverage service, and sanitation California Food Handler Certification, Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification Follow all company policies and procedures related to dining room service. Perform other duties as assigned Core Responsibilities Wine Service & Guest Experience Approach service with professionalism, humility, precision, and genuine hospitality. Guide guests through the wine program with confidence and enthusiasm Recommend wines based on guest preferences, cuisine, occasion, and budget Execute proper wine service Maintain strong knowledge of wine and wine service Describe wines in an engaging, approachable, and refined manner Anticipate guest needs and maintain awareness of table progression Create memorable hospitality moments through personalization and attention to detail Team & Leadership Expectations Participate actively in lineup and staff education Continuously studying wine and hospitality Mentor newer team members Assist in maintaining high dining room standards Contribute positively to team culture Help uphold Michelin-level hospitality standards Qualifications Preferred qualifications include: Previous fine dining or wine-focused restaurant experience Strong interest in wine and hospitality CMS, WSET, or equivalent wine education preferred but not required Comfortable in a fast-paced service environment Strong communication and sales skills Passion for guest experience and attention to detail Must be 21 years of age or older
