Overview:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the clinics recruitment, training, publicity, operations, data collection and quality control. Operations Supervisors regularly reviews tax returns submitted by volunteers and other staff to ensure accuracy. Regularly communicates with VITA Coordinators to ensure program efficiency. The Operation Supervisors directly supervise the work of the Lead Supervisors who are assigned to report to them (typically around 3-4), they also co-supervisor the student assistants in the VITA Office.

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned): Supervising and managing their assigned sites. Oversee's Lead supervisors, tax preparers,

and students assistants. Ensures that sites have working equipment, required supplies, along

with current IRS materials in case of audit. Maintains communication with Community

Partners (i.e. Libraries, Community Centers, YMCA) to ensure smooth working relationship.

Pre-tax season assists Program Coordinator to administer and train volunteer tax preparers

and supervisors. Confirms the student's identity using photo identification, and confirm he/she has signed and

dated Form 13615. Assigns students to cohorts including work schedule and provides student

with on-site materials.

Reviews student documentation with student to assign final student grade.

Addresses tax issues and/or tax code rejections with tax payers in order rectify concerns.

Running reports on a weekly basis VITA TaxSlayer Pro for Community Partners, Federal and

State Tax Authorities including for grant purposes.

CSU5 Designated liason reports directly to VITA Program Director to address any and all CSU5 concerns and maintain line of communication.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral, written, and client service skills
  • Able to effectively interact with low-income clients with diverse backgrounds.
  • Able to work under pressure while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced team-oriented
    environment and with minimum supervision
  • Bilingual language skills are a plus
  • Proficiency of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Taxslayer Pro, Qualtrics, Acuity and Box
  • Possess strong leadership skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, customer service skills,
    work ethics, takes initiative and ownership of tasks assigned
  • At least two tax return seasons of supervisory work experience, including training staff, in a volunteer
    income tax clinic
  • Experience serving low-income communities is required.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

The anticipated hiring range: $21.23 - $26.06
