Temp-Hire Job Summary PrideStaff is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Custodial Operations to provide leadership and direction for an institutional custodial services team. This role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that supports a thriving community. Serving as a key operational leader within Facilities Services, the Manager oversees daily custodial operations, supervises staff, coordinates service delivery, and ensures strict compliance with institutional standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. The Manager partners closely with internal campus stakeholders—including Academic Affairs, Student Life, Athletics, Events, and Campus Safety—to deliver high-quality custodial services that reflect organizational values of respect, inclusion, and stewardship. The ideal candidate will advance operational efficiency, support workforce development, and contribute to a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement. Essential Responsibilities 1. Operational Leadership & Supervision Lead, schedule, and direct custodial teams to ensure consistent, high-quality cleaning and maintenance across academic, residential, athletic, and administrative facilities. Assign daily work, inspect completed tasks, and ensure adherence to institutional standards, safety protocols, and sanitation practices. Monitor labor management systems, timekeeping, and staffing assignments to ensure accurate records and efficient deployment of resources. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action as needed to support a high-performing, service-oriented team. 2. Customer Service & Stakeholder Liaison Serve as the primary point of contact for custodial service requests from faculty, staff, students, and institutional partners. Coordinate with departments to ensure timely response to maintenance needs, event support, and special cleaning requests. Foster strong working relationships that promote collaboration, transparency, and responsiveness. 3. Training, Safety & Compliance Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and onboarding for custodial staff. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental health standards, chemical handling protocols, and institutional policies. Promote a culture of safety, risk awareness, and proactive problem-solving. 4. Event & Program Support Coordinate custodial support for community events, including setup, breakdown, and post-event cleaning. Ensure facilities are prepared for high-impact events such as Commencement, Orientation, large-scale welcomes, and athletic competitions. Collaborate with Meetings, Events, Conferences, and Facilities Operations to maintain readiness and service excellence. 5. Building Security & Stewardship Support building security by ensuring doors, windows, and facilities are properly secured during and after custodial operations. Identify facility issues, safety hazards, or maintenance needs and escalate them to the appropriate Facilities Services units. Promote responsible use of resources, sustainability practices, and stewardship of facilities. 6. Leadership, Culture & Continuous Improvement Model and reinforce core values emphasizing respect for all persons, inclusive community, and service to others. Encourage innovation, resilience, and collaborative problem-solving within custodial teams. Participate in departmental initiatives to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and workforce development. Support the development and implementation of custodial standards, procedures, and quality-assurance practices.
Qualifications Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field.
Experience Required:
Supervisory or management experience in custodial, janitorial, or facilities operations.
Required:
Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Preferred:
Three (3) or more years of custodial management experience.
Preferred:
Experience in higher education, residential facilities, or large-scale institutional environments.
Preferred:
Experience with labor management systems, scheduling tools, or custodial quality-assurance programs. Skills & Abilities Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels. Deep knowledge of custodial practices, sanitation standards, equipment use, and cleaning chemicals. Ability to interpret schedules, work orders, and operational plans. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to changing needs. Commitment to customer service, team development, and continuous improvement. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Proficiency with MS Office or Google Workspace.
Licenses & Certifications Required:
