Job Description
Director of Operations & Growth — Dental Practice Aloha Dental group San Mateo, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time | Contract $50,000 - $150,000 a year 5 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance Qualifications Expense management Team development Recruiting Interviewing Dental office experience Full Job Description Practice Director / Business Operations Leader We are an established dental practice entering an important stage of growth and are looking for an exceptional business operator and people leader to take ownership of the business side of the practice. We are open to full-time, part-time, or contract arrangements initially. For the right person, we are more interested in capability, ownership, and demonstrated results than fitting the position into a predetermined structure. Candidates with a strong record of building teams, improving operations, and producing measurable business results are encouraged to describe those accomplishments in their application. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the business. Compensation and responsibility will increase as the individual demonstrates the ability to build the team, improve operations, create accountability, and produce measurable results. This is not a traditional office manager position. We are looking for someone who can see the potential in a business, identify what is preventing it from reaching that potential, and build the people, systems, accountability, and operational structure necessary to get it there. The right person will have significant autonomy and responsibility. What You Will Own You will be responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the practice, including: Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, developing, and managing the team Addressing performance problems and making difficult personnel decisions when necessary Building systems, processes, and accountability Establishing and monitoring meaningful KPIs Improving scheduling, collections, patient retention, case acceptance, and operational efficiency Identifying opportunities for responsible growth Managing expenses, vendors, and resources Developing team leaders rather than creating dependence on one manager Identifying problems early and bringing solutions—not simply problems—to ownership Creating an operation that functions consistently without requiring the doctor to manage its daily business decisions We are looking for someone who understands that authority and accountability come together. The Person We Are Looking For We are intentionally not providing a long checklist of required qualifications. If you are an experienced operator, business builder, or exceptional practice leader, tell us why your background makes you the right person for this opportunity. We are particularly interested in what you have actually built, improved, changed, or grown. Dental experience is valuable, but it is not enough by itself. Leadership ability, judgment, initiative, business understanding, and demonstrated results matter considerably more. We want someone who enjoys taking something with significant untapped potential and helping build what it can become. This position is best suited for someone who takes pride in ownership, improvement, and measurable results—not someone looking primarily for a title or a comfortable management job. Compensation We are open to full-time, part-time, or contract arrangements initially. To Apply Please send your résumé, but do not let your résumé speak for you. In your response, tell us: Why are you the right person to take ownership of the business operations of this practice? What have you personally built, improved, or grown? What measurable results did you produce? Please provide numbers or specific examples where possible. What size team and operation have you been responsible for? What responsibilities did you personally own versus decisions that required approval from an owner or executive? Tell us about your experience recruiting, hiring, developing, and when necessary terminating employees. If you joined a good practice that had substantial unrealized potential, what would you evaluate first? What would you want to accomplish during your first 90 days here? We are not looking for perfect answers. We are looking for evidence of judgment, ownership, leadership, and results.
