Reporting to the Station Manager, the International Operations Manager oversees the BTX Corporate international operations unit, including customer service, compliance, SOP development, KPI management, and operational performance. This role leads a team responsible for quoting, air and ocean import and export operations, with accountability for service quality, profitability, and alignment with the company's strategic objectives. The successful candidate will balance the tactical demands of international operations with strong leadership, communication, and strategic direction. This individual will engage directly with clients as needed, develop team members, collaborate across operating units, and serve as a key partner to BTX's corporate and franchise operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and develop the International Operations team to ensure consistent service quality, operational efficiency, and best-in-class performance. Develop and implement departmental strategies and initiatives aligned with organizational objectives. Establish, monitor, analyze, and report on departmental KPIs to drive continuous improvement in operational performance, productivity, and service quality. Partner with Sales to support new business opportunities, client onboarding, solution development, and ongoing client needs. Analyze client satisfaction and operational performance data to identify trends, address service gaps, and implement improvement initiatives. Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) across business lines and customer accounts. Optimize team productivity, service quality, and operational effectiveness through effective staffing, workload management, and performance oversight. Coach, mentor, and develop team members while identifying and preparing emerging leaders to support succession planning and organizational growth. Prepare and present departmental performance reports, operational updates, and key initiatives to senior leadership. Build and maintain effective relationships with senior leadership and other key internal stakeholders. Communicate executive directives, organizational priorities, and operational expectations to team members. Oversee departmental compliance activities in coordination with Corporate Compliance, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Minimum of five years of progressive operations leadership experience within international freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation. Demonstrated experience leading an operations department or business unit within the international freight forwarding or logistics sector. Required experience with air and ocean freight, including import and export operations. Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, domestic and international agents, carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present operational concepts, recommendations, and solutions in clear, business-friendly language. Strong active listening, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, and develop teams to achieve operational and service objectives. Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding operations, including air and ocean import and export processes. Strong analytical skills with experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to analyze operational performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making. Proven ability to operate effectively within a dynamic, growth-oriented environment and adapt to changing business and customer requirements.
