ENTRY SALARY
$75, 508.16 ANNUALLY

Under general direction, the Gas Operations Supervisor supervises, guides, and performs skilled work in one or more specialized areas of natural and propane gas maintenance, construction, service, installation, warehouse/meter shop, and gas appliance repair.
Essential Functions :

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervises, assists, and guides the operations of one of the specialized areas within the gas department. Monitors, manages, and supervises various job sites; ensures appropriate contractor scheduling, compliance of job layouts and drawings, and verifying of line capacities to include any approved after-hours work. Investigates and researches leaks, meter tampering, fuel loss, and recovery; calculates losses and communicates with techs regarding issues, failures, or tampering problems. Prepares daily job tasks for techs; compiles turn-ons and turn-offs, routing assistance, job specifics, materials needed, and equipment required; reviews work, checks paperwork for errors, and submits documents for billing; visits jobs sites and reviews completion of tasks, adherence to specifications, and compliance with standards. Responds to, engages, detects, and repairs gas leaks during gas emergencies; provides first responder services in hazardous gas environments and during leak emergencies. Conducts and participates in departmental, collaborative, and section specific meetings. Supervises, trains, guides, and oversees the gas technicians and other subordinate personnel; ensures all staff understands the proper procedures for tool use, job specifications, code compliance, and safety; delegates and distributes work in the field. Generates, drafts, and delivers cost analysis for various projects, makes estimates, and calculates expenses; monitors section specific budgets. Provide statistical data for monthly performance indicators. Interact with customers and public regarding inquiries and billing complaints. Supervisor required to serve or supervise periodic 24 - hour stand-by for nights, weekend and emergency work on assigned basis. Manages and resolves personnel conflicts while enforcing the performance & behavior management program (PBMP). Performs other duties as assigned. Construction Supervisor Uses knowledge of GIS maps and atlas mapping to supervise multiple construction projects simultaneously and provide the correct As-built data for GIS entry. Schedules and coordinates meter installs, service and main line install, relocations, project management, and construction timelines. Leads the efforts to determine and identify gas main, service line, or relocation design layout; attends FDOT meetings to coordinate timelines and ensure timeliness of installations and relocations. Oversee contractors, installations, relocations, construction schedules and timelines. Interacts with customers and public regarding construction installation and damage complaints. Monitors, manages, and supervises various job sites; ensures appropriate contractor scheduling, compliance of job layouts and drawings, and verifying of line capacities.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid state driver's license is required. Federal, State and Local Gas Certifications based upon area of assignment.
Type:
Possession and maintenance of Class A or B CDL with necessary endorsements based on area of assignment.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and six (6) months of Vocational Training. Five (5) years of experience in gas distribution, cathodic protection, maintenance, propane, service, or installation, including either three (3) years of supervisory experience, or comparable experience as a Lead Gas Technician or Gas Systems Specialist with the Clearwater Gas System OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Knowledge of - Municipal, state, and national gas codes, compliance, and maintenance procedures Principles and practices of gas supply, gas distribution systems, distribution operation, and structural features of intermediate and high-pressure gas distribution systems Common hand and power tools Materials, and methods of pipe fitting used in the installation of gas mains, service lines, gas appliances, and house piping; fusion equipment, pipe/fitting materials, excavation machinery, tapping equipment, and gas leak equipment Hazards and safety precautions Operation and maintenance of gas appliances Department policies and protocols Skill in - Training and supervising subordinate technicians Operating heavy machinery and pipeline tapping equipment Leak detection methods, inspecting, supervising, and overseeing work of less skilled employees and providing Hands-on operator qualification (OQ) evaluation training Analyzing blueprints, layout, and schematics Establishing and maintaining good relationships Dealing tactfully with the public Operating a computer with general proficiency
