Position Details Lakeland Regional Health is a leading medical center located in Central Florida. As the only Provisional Level 1 Trauma center for Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties, and the second busiest Emergency Department in the US, we are committed to providing high-quality care to our diverse patient population. Our facility is licensed for 910 beds and handles over 200,000 emergency room visits annually, along with 49,000 inpatient admissions, 21,000 surgical cases, 4,000 births, and 101,000 outpatient visits. Min $16.44 Mid $18.91 Position Summary Proactively works to place the patient to the appropriate bed location safely and expeditiously. Coordinates and prioritizes patient placement between the emergency department, in-house units, and procedural areas. Utilizes enhanced critical thinking skill and clinical knowledge to prioritize placements as directed by Logistics Center guidelines, the Logistics Center Supervisor, and/or the Administrative Manager. Responsible for creating direct admit accounts and facilitating bed placement upon direct patient arrival. Responsible for pulling patient emergency department account through to inpatient units upon patient arrival. Responsible for monitoring patient charts for isolation updates and other changes that could alter placement, as well as supervising the update of accommodation codes when necessary. Superior technical skills are expected as interaction with multiple software programs are used to drive and align throughput services. Exceptional customer service skills are required for perceived positive interactions with hospital staff, physicians, physicians' offices, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities. Responsible for adhering to the regulatory and departmental policies and procedures and must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction. Throughput Operations Coordinator Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Performs quick registration on general adult direct admissions using three patient identifiers legal name, DOB & social security number while ensuring that the patient's safety is maintained at all times. Performs pull through/convert process on all ED patients using the SMS/ADT system ensuring that the patient is in there in house bed location on arrival to floor. Initiates placement of patients utilizing the Throughput Operations plan and screening processes. The Specialist will ensure that the patient is placed appropriately, expeditiously and safely to the right bed. Complex placements will be escalated to the Throughput Operation supervisor and or administrative manager. Delay in placing patients of no greater than 15 minutes will be escalated to the Throughput Operation supervisor or administrative manager. Utilizing pre admit tracking the Throughput Operation Supervisor will filter patient , to the right screen, use appropriate admit source location, utilize patient placement indicators for the purpose of communication and data reporting. Utilizes & aligns the clean next process by ensuring that all next dirty beds to be assigned or assigned dirty beds are escalated to a clean next process. Monitors bed tracking for clean next bed to go in progress. If the assigned clean next bed has not gone in progress within 10 minutes, notify Throughput Operations Supervisor & escalate the cleaning delay to the environmental service supervisor. High level knowledge of tele-tracking system to be able to maintain the integrity the accuracy of the system and to be able to respond appropriately when there is not. Professional customer services skills which include tone of voice, articulate in a concise manner, knowledge in conversation and problem resolution. The patient placement representative will utilize all of these skills in order to converse in a knowledgeable, confident & professional manner Maintains Emergency Resource census/bed capacity view in accordance with department and state guidelines. Assumes accountability for personal and professional growth within the department. Participate in orientation of the student and new staff. Answers the phone in a professional manner takes and directs calls as appropriate. Maintains patient, employee, physicians and organizational confidentiality; respects the right and privacy of all others in compliance with HIPPA regulations. Perform other duties as assigned to support the essential functions of the job and operational needs.Competencies & Skills Essential:
