Job Description

Job Summary Arcosa Aggregates is seeking an Area Operations Manager based at our Newberry, FL plant to support our Florida and Alabama area plants. This role will support a positive safety culture by directing operations and teams within a mining environment regulated by MSHA safety standards. As an Area Operations Manager, you will have full P&L responsibility and oversee operations, sales, and personnel to achieve safety, compliance, production, and profitability goals in the production and sale of aggregates. The ideal candidate brings hands on aggregates or mining operations experience, strong business acumen, and a leadership style centered on safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Day to Day Successfully balance the demands of multiple mining facilities across the region while maintaining strong visibility and engagement with plant teams. Provide leadership and oversight for aggregate mining operations across Florida and Alabama, including production, maintenance, load out, quality control, and overall site performance. Drive a strong MSHA focused safety culture through visible leadership, accountability, training, and proactive hazard recognition. Manage daily mining activities including stripping, extraction, crushing, screening, wash plant operations, and inventory management to ensure production targets and customer demands are met. Partner closely with plant managers, supervisors, maintenance teams, and dispatch to maximize plant uptime, equipment utilization, efficiency, and cost control. Oversee maintenance planning for both fixed and mobile equipment to minimize downtime and improve reliability across the region. Monitor key performance indicators including production volumes, labor efficiency, equipment performance, maintenance costs, fuel usage, inventory levels, and overall profitability. About You At least five years of supervisory experience in an Aggregates environment highly preferred. Demonstrated experience leading multi-site aggregate, quarry, or mining operations with accountability for safety, production, maintenance, and financial performance. Associate degree in a related field or equivalent industry work experience required, Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. Thorough knowledge of MSHA regulations, safety compliance, environmental regulations and policies. Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required and lift weights up to 60 pounds. The ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy) Willingness to travel with flexibility in work hours, including nights and weekends Confident and robust supervisory and leadership skills. Extensive experience and knowledge of mining operations. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and understand financial statements. Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment. Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective distribution techniques. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Typical work schedule consists of daytime hours Monday through Friday, but may be required to work overtime, and/or weekends.
