Manager, Paddling Operations, Silver Springs State Park Reports To:
General Manager, Cape Leisure Silver Springs Purpose:
Join our growing team of outdoor recreation and hospitality professionals at one of Florida's most beautiful natural venues. Cape Leisure is the official concessionaire at Silver Springs State Park in Silver Springs, Florida, providing park visitors with services including our world-famous glass bottom boat tours, food, retail, catering, special event services, and canoe & kayak rentals, and guided paddle tours. We're looking for a seasoned team leader with a love of outdoor sports to manage our Paddling Adventures canoe, kayak and stand-up paddleboard rental operation. While previous experience in such an operation is a plus, it is not a requirement. Bring your previous supervisory or management experience and we'll teach the rest. The successful Paddle Operations Manager will direct all activities related to Cape Leisure's canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rentals, as well as livery transportation at Silver Springs State Park and guided paddle tours. This includes managing staff; supervising the rental operation's cash operations; ensuring overall safety, achieving high standards for guest service; and meeting Cape Leisure's obligations set forward in the concession agreement.Primary Responsibilities:
Direct all watercraft rental activities for Cape Leisure's 240+ boat fleet of canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. This includes reservations, safety program and training, instruction and interpretive programs. Supervise Cape Leisure's watercraft van transportation operations, safely moving boats and paddlers from take-out locations back to paddle launch. Supervise a full and part-time peak staff of up to 25, including training and day-to-day direction. Ensure that all rules regarding Cape Leisure's watercraft operations on the Silver River are communicated and enforced, especially those related to the environment, safety and alcohol. Supervise reservations operations. Accept and record reservations. Ensure digital waivers are completed for each rental. Work on the line with associates throughout your shift, including preparing watercraft, paddles, and PFDs for rental; moving watercraft as necessary, including from storage to boat ramp and back; and conducting reservation and rental transactions with guests. Adhere to all Cape Leisure policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to employee and guest safety, guest service, environmental and financial controls. Provide leadership and oversight for department cash handling operations, including daily log-out/log-in of cashier banks and managing and depositing daily receipts. Ensure that company and Park assets, including buildings, equipment, money and inventories, are properly protected. Maintain a good knowledge of the Park and current events in order to expedite guest inquiries. Other responsibilities as required.Skills and Knowledge Required:
Minimum of three years experience supervising staff. Familiarity with electronic point of sales systems. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills Recreational paddling experience/skills a plus, but not required. American Red Cross Water Safety and CPR Certification or equivalent a plus. Physical Requirements Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend for an entire 8 hour shift. Tasks require consistent use of both arms and legs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and carry for short distances. Must be willing to tolerate working outdoors and in warm interior environments. Must be able to visually inspect condition of facilities and equipment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical, and background checkJob Type:
