$90,000 - $135,000 annually Position Summary The Senior Director of Strategic Operations serves as a key leadership partner to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), helping drive enterprise-wide strategic execution, operational alignment, and organizational accountability across Hawaiian Community Assets (HCA). This role is responsible for overseeing cross-functional operational departments, ensuring strategic priorities move from planning to implementation, and supporting executive decision-making with strong systems, project management, and leadership oversight. This position directly supervises enterprise-wide operational leaders, including the Director of Compliance & Grants, Director of Communications, and Research & Data Management Director, while also supporting special projects and strategic initiatives assigned by the CSO. The Senior Director ensures organizational priorities remain aligned, deadlines are met, and departments are operating with clarity, efficiency, and measurable impact. This role requires a high-capacity leader who can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution, lead with accountability, and foster collaboration across departments. Key Responsibilities Strategic Operations Execution & Leadership Support Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Chief Strategy Officer on organizational priorities related to operational improvements Support the implementation of enterprise-wide strategic operations initiatives and cross-departmental operations priorities Help translate executive strategy into actionable workplans, timelines, and accountability structures Lead and manage strategic operations projects as assigned by the CSO, ensuring timely execution and successful outcomes Identify operational bottlenecks and recommend solutions that improve organizational performance and efficiency Prepare internal reports, executive summaries, dashboards, and strategic operational updates for leadership and board-level discussions Enterprise-Wide Operations Supervision Directly supervise and support key operational leadership staff, including: Director of Compliance & Grants Director of Communications Research & Data Management Director Additional enterprise operations staff as assigned Responsibilities include: Conducting regular supervision, coaching, and performance management Supporting annual goal setting, department planning, and team accountability Ensuring alignment between departmental workplans and organizational strategic priorities Strengthening collaboration across departments to reduce silos and improve execution Supporting leadership development and professional growth across supervised teamsOrganizational Operations & Administration Employee Management:
Onboard and offboard employees, maintain communication with third-party HR partners, and manage staff training and professional developmentOffice Management:
Oversee the upkeep, functionality, and security of all HCA offices statewide, ensuring facilities remain operational and compliant, including HUD-related requirements for facility useVendor Management:
Oversee operations vendors, including technology platforms, internal systems, data support vendors, and other contracted operational servicesCulture Champion:
Foster a positive, supportive, and high-performing workplace culture by creating opportunities for employee engagement, internal collaboration, and staff support systemsCollaboration:
Work closely with HCA's executive leadership team and sister organization, Hawaiʻi Community Lending (HCL), to strengthen alignment across programs, operations, and shared organizational resources Organizational Accountability & Performance Management Help establish and maintain organizational accountability systems across leadership teams Track progress against strategic goals, annual workplans, and executive priorities Support the development and implementation of performance metrics and operational dashboards Ensure consistent follow-through on leadership decisions and strategic commitments Assist in organizational planning, annual forecasting, and institutional capacity-building efforts Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Organizational Leadership, or related field (Master's preferred) Minimum 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, strategy, nonprofit management, or executive administration Minimum 3+ years of direct staff supervision at the manager or director level Strong experience managing cross-functional projects and organizational operations Demonstrated ability to work directly with executive leadership and support high-level strategic execution Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment High emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgment in leadership environments Preferred Experience working within nonprofit, housing, community development, or mission-driven organizations Familiarity with compliance, grants management, communications strategy, and data systems Experience supporting board relations, strategic planning, and organizational growth initiatives Knowledge of Native Hawaiian-serving organizations and culturally grounded leadership approachesCore Competencies Strategic Thinking Executive-Level Project Management Leadership & Supervision Organizational Development Cross-Functional Collaboration Operational Excellence Accountability & Follow-Through Systems Improvement Change Management Strong Decision-Making & Judgment Compensation Salary Range:
