Human Resources District Manager Location:
May be based in any one of the following Fleet Farm locations: Ankeny, IA, Carver, MN, Cedar Falls, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Hastings, MN, Lakeville, MN, Mankato, MN, Mason City, IA, Owatonna, MN, Rapid City, SD, Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux City, SD, Waukee, IA Fleet Farm is seeking a strategic, field-focused HR leader to serve as the senior Human Resources partner for an assigned district. This role is responsible for translating enterprise people strategy into strong, consistent execution across multiple stores and distribution centers. As a player-coach, you will lead a team of HR Generalists while serving as a trusted advisor to District and Regional Operations leaders. This role requires strong judgment, executive presence, and deep expertise in employee relations, talent development, and workforce strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3-5 HR Generalists supporting stores across the district Establish clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards for field HR execution Provide guidance on case management, investigations, and leader support Ensure consistent application of HR policies, practices, and processes Drive district-level recruitment planning in partnership with Talent Acquisition and field leadership Anticipate hiring needs based on turnover, seasonality, growth, and business priorities Partner with General Managers and District leaders to proactively address workforce planning and talent risks Monitor recruiting effectiveness and adjust strategies to meet business needs Serve as the escalation point for complex, high-risk, or high-sensitivity employee relations matters Lead or oversee investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, and ethics concerns Ensure investigations are conducted promptly, consistently, and in compliance with policy and employment law Partner with Legal and senior HR leadership on sensitive outcomes and risk mitigation strategies Interpret and apply HR policies across diverse field scenarios Identify policy gaps or inconsistencies and provide feedback to HR leadership Support change management efforts related to new or updated HR policies Lead execution of district-level talent initiatives, including manager coaching, 360-feedback processes, succession planning, and talent reviews Assess bench strength and leadership readiness in partnership with field leaders Coach leaders through performance management, development planning, and corrective action conversations Serve as a trusted HR advisor to District and Regional Operations leaders Translate enterprise HR initiatives into actionable field execution plans Provide data-driven insights and recommendations based on field trends and employee feedback
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including field HR leadership Proven experience leading in a multi-site environment Deep expertise in employee relations, investigations, and HR policy administration Strong knowledge of employment law and HR risk management Preferred Qualifications Retail, distribution, or hospitality industry experience Experience partnering closely with Legal and executive-level field leadership Why You'll Love Working at
