Operations Manager Des Moines, IA Full-time | Exempt | $100,000 - $115,000 a year About the role The Operations Manager leads the personnel responsible for route, event, and delivery operations, and manages the vehicles, tools, supplies, and facilities that support the route and rental business. This role's primary value is running the operation — planning, staffing, equipment and facility readiness, and event coordination — looking beyond the current two-week window. We're looking for a leader with a genuine can-do attitude who's willing to jump in when the team is short-handed, but whose core impact comes from developing people and driving performance. Responsibilities Coordinate with the sales team using ServiceCore to schedule on-time servicing and rental delivery Manage branch performance through KPIs Actively develop and coach supervisors and leads Eliminate roadblocks — material shortages, breakdowns, absenteeism, turnover, knowledge gaps Hold supervisors, leads, and direct reports accountable to performance, quality, and safety standards; coach and document as needed Manage safety policies and act as first responder to accidents or equipment emergencies Identify, interview, select, and train new route drivers and service staff Oversee active fleet and equipment maintenance Manage supply purchasing and inventory control Be responsible for facility upkeep, services, and overall organization Identify and lead process improvement projects Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a related industry Clean driving record; CDL Class B with tank and air brake endorsements desired Strong mechanical aptitude and organizational skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Route-based system software experience preferred Physical requirements Ability to drive and get in/out of vehicles, move portable toilets, connect trailers, and lift up to 80 lbs. Regular standing, walking, and use of hands to operate cleaning equipment. Work is performed on the warehouse floor, outdoors in the shop yard and at job sites, and in a vehicle, with some office work. Workload is seasonal; some nights and weekends required.
