An Operations Supervisor manages daily operations and activities for a company or organization. Primarily involved in supervising and coordinating the activities of front-line employees such as monitoring work progress, providing training, and ensuring compliance. Has authority over the work of their team members but typically reports to higher-level management.
This is a 3rd shift position providing oversight and work direction of 5 skilled trades personnel along with 10-15 other production related wage employees. You will interact with your day shift module leaders to support maintenance related project and preventative maintenance work. You will also be responsible for ensuring production requirements are met in the machining, metal fabrication, and welding areas.
Additional position duties:
The position will ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job. Monitors Control Plans, troubleshoots workmanship problems and generally supervises production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements. Monitors performance and takes corrective action including discipline, as needed and responds to complaints to ensure the Company and employees adheres to policies, practices, procedures and work rules. Determines facilities, maintenance, and manufacturing and/or distribution priorities based on the production schedule Works with day shift counterparts to communicate work hours, policy changes, and to notify employees of relevant information. Plans for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets. Implements and monitors safety programs and housekeeping. What Skills You Need 3 or more years of supervision in an industrial setting 5 or more years of experience relating to engineering, skilled trades, or other technical fields Systems experience - SAP. Familiar with desktop applications - MS Word, Office, Excel. Good communication skills. Ability to be on-call and support overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed Understanding of safe work practices and environmental requirements Ability to quickly adjust to changing and conflicting priorities while keeping composure Understanding of technical concepts and ability to provide support as needed Experience leading capital and expense related projects Ability to make effective decisions under pressure Courage to drive accountability Strong people leadership, time management, project management, and communication skills What Makes You Stand Out Exposure to preventative and predicative maintenance techniques Experience supervising skilled trades employees, including electricians, pipefitters, millwrights, and building/grounds Experience leading UAW employees Experience or exposure to automation, controls, and robotics Experience with SAP and related maintenance transactions Experience creating purchase orders within SAP Education Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following: Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
