Job Description

Position Summary Buttermilk Cafe is seeking a highly organized, hands-on Operations Manager to support the daily success and growth of our restaurant group. Reporting directly to the VP, this role is responsible for ensuring all locations operate efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with company standards. This is not a desk-only position. The Operations Manager is expected to work directly inside the restaurants alongside management and staff, leading by example and providing real-time operational support. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, understands multi-unit restaurant operations, and is passionate about building systems, supporting teams, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. This position plays a key role in operational excellence, restaurant openings, vendor coordination, training support, and maintaining consistency across all locations. Key Responsibilities Restaurant Operations Work hands-on in restaurant locations to support daily operations and service execution Ensure restaurants are operating smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards Lead by example on the floor during service, assisting teams where needed Support General Managers and staff during busy shifts, staffing shortages, and operational challenges Conduct regular location visits to evaluate service, cleanliness, food quality, and operational execution Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions quickly and effectively Monitor labor, food costs, and operational performance metrics New Restaurant Openings Assist with planning and execution of new restaurant openings Coordinate opening timelines, operational checklists, vendor setup, and training support Work directly in new locations during opening periods to ensure operational readiness and successful launches Support hiring, onboarding, and training efforts for opening teams Systems & Standards Maintain and update order guides, operational procedures, and restaurant systems Ensure consistency in inventory procedures, vendor management, and operational standards Assist with development and implementation of SOPs and operational best practices Support technology rollouts and process improvements across locations Team Support & Leadership Partner with General Managers and leadership teams to provide coaching and operational support Help create a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture Train and mentor managers and hourly team members Act as a liaison between restaurant teams and executive leadership Administrative & Operational Support Analyze operational reports and provide recommendations to leadership Assist with budgeting, inventory oversight, and purchasing processes Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards Support special projects and company growth initiatives as needed Qualifications 3+ years of multi-unit restaurant or hospitality operations experience preferred Strong understanding of restaurant systems, inventory management, labor management, and guest service Experience supporting restaurant openings is highly preferred Must be comfortable working actively in restaurant environments and supporting operations on the floor Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and restaurant management systems Willingness to travel between locations as needed Hands-on leadership style with strong attention to detail
Pay:
$60,481.08 - $72,837.43 per year
