We're looking for a strong people leader to manage a team of Physical Availability Managers focused on improving equipment performance, operational efficiency, and overall customer experience with Caterpillar solutions. In this role, you'll partner closely with dealers, customers, and cross-functional teams to deliver measurable impact across key accounts. What You'll Do Team Leadership & Talent Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of Physical Availability Managers assigned to key customer sites, fleets, and projects. Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, ensuring the team has the technical and consultative skills required to support enterprise and customer needs. Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans aligned with organizational priorities. Strategic Direction & Execution Provide strategic and tactical leadership for site-specific initiatives aimed at improving customer experience and operational performance. Oversee the execution of PA(Physical Availability) improvement projects, ensuring safe, consistent, and effective delivery. Define and implement standards, processes, and best practices for on-site equipment maintenance and performance support. Customer & Dealer Engagement Partner closely with Cat dealers and customers to develop and deploy solutions focused on equipment performance, maintenance excellence, and operational efficiency. Act as a senior consultant to site leadership, providing guidance on application best practices and product health strategies. Serve as a key escalation point for customer needs, ensuring timely resolution and strong stakeholder communication. Performance Management & Continuous Improvement Own and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including equipment physical availability, uptime, and cost per ton, and parts availability. Analyze site-level performance data to identify improvement opportunities across technical, operational, and logistical areas. Drive continuous improvement by translating insights into actionable strategies and measurable outcomes. Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence Influence and align stakeholders across Caterpillar, dealers, and customer organizations—often without direct authority—to drive performance improvements. Serve as the central coordination point for Caterpillar at assigned sites, connecting Product Support, Commercial, and Engineering teams. Support sales efforts by showcasing machine performance capabilities and contributing to contract or service agreement discussions. Risk Management & Feedback Loop Identify and mitigate business risks while ensuring alignment with commercial recovery strategies. Capture and communicate customer feedback and support trends to engineering teams to inform product improvements and enhancements.
What skills you will have:
Technical Excellence:
Site operations experience, fleet maintenance, understanding of repair processes, and dealer operations experience. Deep understanding of mining operations and equipment — this will set you apart. Ability to run complex projects across multiple departments and stakeholders.
Problem Solving :
Ability to develop improvement programs and projects related to solving underperformance in planning, engineering and maintenance operations.
Relationship Management:
Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
Customer Focus:
Proven ability to manage customer relationships and deliver measurable performance improvements
Consulting:
Knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately.
Effective Communications:
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Field Support:
Knowledge of and experience with providing post-sales support; ability to support maintenance of hardware products.
Additional Information:
The primary work location for this role is either Tucson, AZ or Peoria, IL, with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility. This position may require 40 % travel. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Visa sponsorship, international assignments, or payroll transfers are not available for this role.
Summary Pay Range:
$159,120.00 - $238,680.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
