Job Description
Seasonal Riverfront - a 25-40 hours/week | Evenings, weekends, and holidays required Confident leader. Customer-first. Calm under pressure. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy leading teams while delivering memorable guest experiences, this role puts you in charge on the ice. What You'll Do Lead daily operations at the Headwaters Ice Rink, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-run experience for guests, staff, and the community. You'll oversee staff, programs, finances, and facility operations while serving as the on-site leader throughout the season. Key Responsibilities Open, close, and secure the facility while overseeing daily rink operations Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and develop 15-20 seasonal staff and volunteers Manage admissions, cash handling, deposits, inventory, and financial reporting Enforce safety rules, resolve guest concerns, and ensure high-quality customer service Plan, staff, and support programs, events, concessions, and skate sessions Supervisory Responsibilities Provides direct supervision to approximately 15-20 seasonal employees What You Bring - Education & Experience High school diploma or GED One to three years of related leadership, recreation, or customer service experience Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Preferred Certifications First Aid and CPR certification (American Heart Association required within two weeks of hire) Valid Indiana Driver's License (required if operating a City vehicle) Technical Skills & Knowledge Experience with scheduling, training, and staff supervision Cash handling, reporting, and inventory management skills Ability to sharpen rental skates and assist with ice maintenance operations Comfort coordinating programs, concessions, and public-facing operations Ability to assist with marketing materials and ensure accurate public information Drives Zamboni or ability to learn how to drive a Zamboni Resurfaces ice as required Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne This is a high-impact seasonal leadership role on Fort Wayne's Riverfront-perfect for someone who enjoys managing people, programs, and public spaces.
