Job DescriptionAbout the RoleAt LDC, our Operations Supervisors are at the center of our export operations—ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of grain through our facilities. This role is based in Port Allen, LA, supporting a high-capacity export elevator and working a 12-hour rotating day/night shift to support a 24/7 operation.



We're looking for a hands-on, team-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance people leadership, systems management, and operational execution. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, discipline around documentation, and the ability to work closely across teams to keep operations running smoothly.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

Operational Coordination (Barge & Truck Movement)Oversee inbound and outbound grain movement across barge and truck operationsCoordinate daily logistics including unloading, loading, and product flowEnsure correct routing of commodities to bins and inventory systemsAct as the central communication point between operators, drivers, and fleet teamsSystems & Documentation Management (Critical to Success)Accurately input and manage operational data in systems such as GMS, TowWorks, and DPRMaintain real-time visibility of inventory, barge status, and product gradesEnsure all tickets, grading information, and shipment documentation are complete and accurateIdentify and resolve discrepancies quickly to prevent operational delays👉 This role requires strong systems capability and a high level of ownership over documentation accuracy.



People Leadership & Team EnvironmentLead, coach, and support hourly employees and contractors in daily operationsFoster a collaborative, team-first environment across shifts and functionsReinforce accountability, safety standards, and operational expectationsPartner closely with maintenance, logistics, and leadership teams👉 We are looking for someone who is a strong team player and leader—someone who can build trust, communicate clearly, and keep teams aligned in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

QualificationsWhat You Bring:

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses Basic qualifications: High school diploma or GED Valid Driver's license Valid TWIC Card Preferred qualifications: College degree in a related discipline (industrial/maritime/agriculture curriculum) Some continuing education (e.g., industrial safety and environmental related subjects) Required Qualifications2+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or bulk logistics operationsUnderstanding of logistics (e.g., vessel, rail or truck) and inventory management Demonstrated people leadership experience in a team-based environmentStrong proficiency working in systems and managing operational dataProven ability to maintain accurate documentation and operational recordsStrong communication and coordination skills across teamsHigh attention to detail and strong time managementPreferredExperience in grain handling, agriculture, or bulk commoditiesExposure to control room or logistics coordination environmentsKnowledge of grain grading, USDA standards, or similarSafety training or familiarity with OSHA standards Additional InformationEquipment UsedTypical office equipment: PC, telephone, fax/scanner/copy machine, mobile phone, truck/rail scales, bulk material handling equipment Working Conditions Portions of the day will be spent in a climate-controlled office environment. The majority of the work day will be spent outside with routine visits to operational areas resulting in exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions. This may also result in exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, wet or slick surfaces and loud noises. Where appropriate, wears personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations. May require climbing fixed ladders or stairs, boarding cargo ships, walking on loading docks which may be wet. The extension of regular working hours or non-working days is occasionally necessary to complete time-sensitive projects, attend training or respond to emergencies. Additionally, work may be required on weekends and holidays as dictated by business demands. Requires rotating shifts (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) or (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) Employee Supervision Directly or indirectly supervises up to 17 employees, including barge crew, truck unloading and housekeeping employees, grain inspection personnel and occasionally mechanics and electricians. Decision Making/Accountability Accountable for all actions in unloading barges and unloading and loading trucks within the facility during scheduled shift. Schedules production and communicates information for upcoming shift (proper relief). Manages elevator grain quality and space. Coordinates truck and barge requirements with the local farmers and barge line. Safety, Health & Environmental Responsibilities Maintains good working knowledge of SHE policies, rules and procedures applicable to area of responsibility and ensures all applicable requirements are adhered to. Ensures employees are provided required training for area and jobs and tasks prior to assigning work. Ensures area of responsibility is maintained in orderly and safe manner. Promptly reports unsafe working conditions to management and communicates potential hazards to affected employees. Promptly reports all incidents to management and conducts incident investigation as soon as practicable; no later than 24 hours from time of incident.
