Staff Members Reports To:
Early Learning Program Director Position Summary The Site Director is responsible for the overall leadership, compliance, and day-to-day operations of a licensed preschool childcare program serving up to 60 children. This role ensures high-quality educational programming, regulatory compliance with Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations, staff supervision and development, family engagement, and sound operational management. The Site Director provides instructional leadership aligned with developmentally appropriate practice, Creative Curriculum, and NAEYC principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership & Operations
  • Oversee daily site operations to ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-organized learning environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all Massachusetts EEC licensing regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, including child files, staff files, attendance, incident reports, and licensing documentation.
  • Prepare for and successfully manage EEC monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management protocols. Educational Program Oversight
  • Ensure implementation of a high-quality preschool curriculum aligned with the Creative Curriculum and EEC standards.
  • Support developmentally appropriate practice, inclusive learning environments, and individualized learning plans.
  • Monitor classroom environments and instructional practices through regular observations.
  • Use data (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD or similar assessment tools) to guide program improvement.
  • Promote social-emotional learning, positive behavior supports, and culturally responsive teaching. Staff Supervision & Human Resources
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teaching and support staff (approximately 10 staff).
  • Coordinate staff schedules to meet ratio and qualification requirements at all times.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and retention of qualified staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development.
  • Ensure staff meet EEC certification, training, and professional development requirements.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture. Family & Community Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families at the site.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication, conferences, and engagement opportunities.
  • Address family concerns, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Support family access to resources, referrals, and community services as needed.
  • Represent the program positively within the community. Administrative & Fiscal Responsibilities
  • Manage site-level budgets, supplies, and purchasing within established guidelines.
  • Monitor enrollment, attendance, and staffing patterns to support program sustainability.
  • Collaborate with central administration on billing, subsidies (e.g., EEC Financial Assistance), and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping, payroll coordination, and staffing documentation. Compliance, Equity & Quality Improvement
  • Ensure adherence to NAEYC principles, EEC regulations, and agency policies.
  • Promote equity, inclusion, and anti-bias practices throughout the program.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times. Qualifications Required
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Massachusetts EEC Director I certification.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education, including supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Massachusetts EEC regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Massachusetts EEC Director II certification.
  • Experience managing a preschool program of similar size (50+ children).
  • Familiarity with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
  • NAEYC accreditation experience or knowledge. Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout classrooms and indoor/outdoor learning environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to meet EEC health and background check requirements. Salary Range
  • $65,000-$85,000 annually , commensurate with education, credentials, and experience. Work Schedule
  • Full-time Exempt, year-round position.
  • Schedule aligned with program operating hours; occasional evenings, Saturdays or meetings may be required.
