This role is ideal for a hands-on operational leader who understands the importance of delivering safe, reliable, and compassionate care while building strong systems, supporting caregivers, and maintaining compliance with state and industry requirements. The Director of Operations will oversee staffing, client service quality, process improvement, compliance, and team performance. You will work closely with leadership, care coordination teams, caregivers, clients, and families to ensure the agency runs smoothly and delivers an excellent care experience. Role Summary The Director of Operations is responsible for managing the operational health of the agency. This includes ensuring proper staffing coverage, improving workflows, supporting caregiver retention, monitoring service quality, and helping the agency meet regulatory and business goals. The right candidate will bring strong leadership skills, healthcare or home care operations experience, and a practical understanding of how to balance client needs, caregiver support, compliance, and business performance. Key Responsibilities Lead daily operations across scheduling, care coordination, caregiver support, client services, and administrative workflows. Oversee staffing operations to ensure clients receive consistent, timely, and appropriate care coverage. Support recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, and retention efforts for caregivers and field staff. Monitor service quality through client feedback, care reviews, incident follow-up, and performance tracking. Ensure compliance with Massachusetts home care regulations, agency policies, documentation standards, and applicable healthcare requirements. Develop and improve operational processes to increase efficiency, accountability, and service consistency. Partner with leadership to set operational goals, track performance metrics, and identify opportunities for growth. Support caregiver engagement by promoting clear communication, recognition, coaching, and problem-solving. Address client and family concerns with professionalism, urgency, and a focus on resolution. Collaborate with internal teams to maintain accurate records, care plans, schedules, and compliance documentation. Help prepare for audits, inspections, quality reviews, and internal compliance checks. Analyze staffing trends, service gaps, client satisfaction, and operational challenges to recommend practical improvements. Promote a culture of respect, reliability, compassion, and accountability across the organization. Required Qualifications 5+ years of operations leadership experience in home care, home health, senior care, healthcare, human services, or a related field. Proven experience managing teams, improving workflows, and overseeing daily business operations. Strong understanding of staffing, scheduling, caregiver management, and client service delivery. Knowledge of healthcare compliance, documentation standards, and quality assurance practices. Familiarity with Massachusetts home care regulations or the ability to quickly apply state-specific requirements. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced care environment. Experience handling sensitive client, family, and employee matters with professionalism and discretion. Comfortable using scheduling systems, electronic records, reporting tools, and standard office technology. Commitment to high-quality care, caregiver support, and ethical business practices. Preferred Qualifications Prior leadership experience in a private duty home care agency, home health agency, hospice, assisted living, or senior services organization. Experience preparing for audits, surveys, or compliance reviews. Knowledge of caregiver recruitment, retention strategies, and workforce development. Experience with operational metrics, budgeting, process improvement, and performance reporting. Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, human services, or a related field.
