Job Description
Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in West Newton, MA is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the systems and processes as well as the flow of tasks that keep this mid-sized congregation running smoothly. The Operations Manager will ensure that things get where they need to go when they need to get there, handling key logistical tasks and supporting others to do their work effectively. They will be supervised by the Senior Rabbi, and will work collaboratively with the Director of Congregational Learning (DCL), the Program & Communications Associate, and lay leaders. Congregation Dorshei Tzedek is a vibrant, growing, progressive Reconstructionist Jewish community of approximately 260 households from across the greater Boston area. We seek to grow and sustain a community that is spiritually nourishing, committed to repair of our broken world, and deeply rooted in Jewish text and practice while embracing creative transformation of our tradition. We are seeking a new member of our administrative team who is aligned with our Core Values and who brings their own gifts and talents to our community. Responsibilities of the Operations Manager include, but are not limited to: Administrative Management Coordinate logistical support for congregational activities in collaboration with staff and lay leadership. Manage HR functions including - Onboarding and offboarding employees, managing employee benefits such as health care enrollment, and staying abreast of federal and state employment rules. Serve as primary liaison to building management of facilities rented or used by CDT, and provide oversight to ensure the proper maintenance of the congregation's sanctuary and other dedicated rental spaces. Provide logistical support to the Space Committee. High Holydays logistical coordination, including liaison with the rental site and working with the High Holydays coordinator and A/V staff. Liaison with vendors. Financial Tasks Understand the overall financial picture and cash flow, in collaboration with the bookkeeper. Track membership renewal and payment, and support Membership Vice-Presidents and Treasurer in following up on dues and tuition payments. Provide financial reports and data to the board Treasurer. Oversee bill payment and check deposits. Provide logistical support and orientation to fundraising chairs, and monitor and report on annual campaign's progress. Provide support to the Vice-President of Finance and the Treasurer in preparation of the annual budget. Board Support Assist board Co-Presidents in board logistics and provide logistical support for monthly board meetings. Oversee logistics for Members Meetings three times a year. Provide support for committee chairs and board members in scheduling events and other logistics. Congregational Needs Respond to congregant requests. Provide support for onboarding and processing new members. Coordinate congregant volunteers as needed.
Necessary skills:
Knowledge of Quickbooks (or ability to come up to speed quickly); familiarity with CRM systems - Shulcloud a plus but not required. Background in financial systems helpful. Candidates need to be detail-oriented, tech savvy, and fond of multitasking. In addition, our ideal candidate is personable, compassionate, diplomatic, comfortable with a highly diverse membership (including religious background, gender identity, sexuality, race, and economic class), and enjoys the challenge of handling a wide-ranging set of responsibilities. Knowledge of Jewish calendar and Jewish life is helpful but not required. This is a full-time, primarily an on-site position, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. The start date is flexible, but ideally by mid-May 2026.Compensation range:
