Director of Operations

Job Overview The Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management of Sand Springs Pool & Recreation Center, overseeing facilities, staff, and guest experience. As the primary on-site leader during operating seasons, this role ensures safe, efficient, and welcoming operations across the pool, sauna, and surrounding grounds. This position requires a hands-on leader who can effectively balance staff supervision, guest services, and operational logistics in a highly seasonal environment.

Position Type:

Salaried | Part-time (with potential for full-time for the right candidate) | Seasonally intensive Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Operations & Safety Oversee daily operations of the pool, sauna, and grounds during operating seasons Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and fully operational at all times Coordinate routine maintenance and communicate larger needs to the Board Staffing & Supervision Recruit, hire, train, and schedule seasonal staff (lifeguards, attendants, front desk) Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and performance feedback Ensure all shifts are adequately staffed and team members are well-supported Guest Services & Community Experience Serve as the primary on-site representative of Sand Springs Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and community-oriented environment Address guest concerns and resolve issues professionally and efficiently Support admissions, programming, and overall guest flow Sauna & Seasonal Operations Provide direct coverage of sauna and facility hours as needed Adjust staffing levels and operations based on demand and seasonal conditions Compliance Maintain required certifications and uphold safety standards Ensure compliance with all local health, safety, and regulatory requirements Board Communication Provide regular updates to the Board Communicate promptly regarding safety, staffing, or operational issues Expectations This is a salaried role with seasonal variation in workload Peak seasons (pool & sauna): Significant on-site presence required, including evenings and weekends

Off-season:

Reduced hours focused on planning, hiring, and facility readiness Qualifications Experience in operations, recreation management, hospitality, or a related field Strong leadership and staff supervision skills Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Highly reliable with the ability to make independent decisions How to Apply Please email your resume to apply@sandspringspool.org to be considered.
