Job Description

Operations Director Custom Cabinet Manufacturing - Detroit, Maine We are a growing custom cabinet manufacturer seeking a hands-on Operations Director/Plant Lead to oversee daily operations across our production facility. This role is responsible for improving communication, accountability, workflow, and execution across all areas of the business as we continue to expand and take on new customers. This is a leadership position for someone who is equally comfortable on the production floor and working with Sales, designers, and customers. About Us We are a custom cabinet manufacturing company operating out of a modern 20,000 sq. ft.
facility with:
CNC machining In-house custom door production UV finishing line Dovetail drawer manufacturing Full assembly and shipping operations We produce both frameless and face-frame cabinetry and are focused on improving efficiency, consistency, and communication as we grow. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations and shop coordination Oversee production scheduling and workflow Improve communication between production, design, sales, and shipping Work directly with supervisors and department leads to solve bottlenecks Monitor labor efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery Help establish clear systems, accountability, and shop organization Assist with hiring, training, and developing shop personnel Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational planning Ensure a safe, organized, and productive work environment Work alongside ownership and leadership on long-term growth initiatives Monitor/Maintain inventory of raw materials and consumables Qualifications Experience managing manufacturing or production operations Cabinet manufacturing, millwork, woodworking, or related industry experience strongly preferred Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on and practical Experience with production scheduling and workflow management Familiarity with CNC-based manufacturing environments preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience is a plus What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who can bring structure, clarity, and leadership to a growing operation while helping position the company for its next stage of growth. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, highly organized, respected by teams on the floor, and focused on execution and continuous improvement.
