Director of Engineering - Hotel Operations

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering for Hotel Operations to lead and oversee all engineering functions across our hotel properties. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the engineering team to ensure the effective maintenance and operation of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, low voltage systems, and other critical building infrastructure. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs utilizing CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) tools to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize downtime. Oversee the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, and industrial control systems to ensure optimal performance. Manage projects related to facilities upgrades, renovations, or new constructions with a focus on safety, compliance, and efficiency. Monitor high voltage and low voltage electrical systems using appropriate testing tools such as ohmmeters; ensure adherence to electrical safety standards. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized services including HVAC servicing, electrical work, or industrial maintenance projects. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, environmental standards, and hotel policies while fostering a culture of safety awareness among staff. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, incident reports, and asset management through CMMS platforms. Lead continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing operational data to identify opportunities for energy savings, process enhancements, or cost reductions. Skills Strong management skills with proven experience supervising diverse maintenance teams in a hospitality or industrial setting. Extensive mechanical knowledge related to HVAC systems, electrical wiring (high voltage and low voltage), schematics interpretation, and industrial maintenance practices. Proficiency in using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ohmmeters, schematics reading, and other diagnostic tools essential for troubleshooting complex systems. Expertise in facilities management including project management skills for renovation or upgrade initiatives. Knowledge of CMMS platforms for maintenance scheduling, asset tracking, and record keeping. Excellent leadership abilities with a focus on supervising staff effectively while fostering teamwork and accountability. Fluency in English with strong communication skills to collaborate across departments and with external vendors effectively. Experience working within manufacturing or large-scale hospitality environments where safety standards are paramount.
