With ambitious plans to reach over 180GWh manufacturing capacity in the US, SK On is at the forefront of innovation in the energy storage sector. In response to the increasing domestic demand, SK On is set to manufacture state-of-the-art 5.3MWh DC Blocks, fully compliant with the latest US domestic content requirements and eligible for full ITC benefits. Additionally, SK On has contracted and awarded projects totaling 7GWh to be installed in the US starting in 2026. We are seeking a highly analytical and disciplined BESS Service Manager to lead our field service operations, oversee quality assurance, and manage the financial lifecycle of our Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA). Reporting directly to the Direct - LTSA & Service Operations, you will execute the post-commissioning service strategy. You will manage a team of field technicians, enforce rigorous problem-solving methodologies, and build LTSA cost models to ensure profitability while meeting strict performance guarantees for our grid-scale commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
LTSA Cost Modeling & Financial Management LTSA Financial Execution:
Develop and maintain comprehensive cost models for Long-Term Service Agreements, tracking actual service costs and warranty spend against executive dashboards developed by the Director.
Risk & Liability Tracking:
Support the Director in analyzing operational data to mitigate "cliff" risks associated with Energy Capacity (Degradation), Round-Trip Efficiency (RTE), and System Availability guarantees.
Incentive Compliance:
Understand the operational requirements necessary to maintain asset eligibility for full ITC benefits, SGIP incentive rates, and SRECs, ensuring system downtime does not negatively impact project economics.
Field Service & Technician Management Team Leadership & Dispatch:
Manage and scale a multi-disciplinary team of internal and external field technicians. Optimize technician deployment and dispatch strategies to meet strict Availability timelines and minimize Liquidated Damages (LDs). Service Kick-Off (SKO)
Execution:
Implement the SKO process established by the Director to ensure a seamless handoff from EPC contractors and the construction/commissioning phase into the long-term service phse.
Technical Escalation:
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex on-site technical issues, guiding technicians through advanced troubleshooting of battery racks, inverters, 3 phase meters, and site controllers. Disciplined Problem Solving, Quality & Safety Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Execute a highly disciplined approach to field issues by leading investigations using industry-standard methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and 5-
Whys Continuous Improvement Feedback:
Consolidate field data and failure metrics to feed back to the R D and Manufacturing teams, targeting the elimination of recurring failure modes in cell and module designs.
Code & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all field operations and third-party O&M providers strictly adhere to electrical safety standards, particularly
NFPA 855
for Stationary Energy Storage Systems, OSHA requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Qualifications Experience; 5-7+ Years of experience in a service, operations, or technical management role within the BESS, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation sectors
Financial Acumen:
Proven experience building and managing financial models (specifically
LTSA, O&M
cost modeling, or lifecycle cost analysis) for complex energy assets.
Methodology & Quality:
Hands-on experience executing formal problem-solving frameworks (8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa) and operating within strict Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Technical Expertise:
Deep understanding of BESS architecture, grid-tied electrical components, and compliance standards (NFPA 855)
Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to manage remote teams of technicians and coordinate effectively with third-party O&M providers in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
