Job Description

Duties :
Under the direction of the Director of Customer Services, Manages and administers the operations of the Permits Division. Supervises the work activities of support staff in the review and approval of plans, relative to underground utility installation; construction to be done by other governmental units; permit paving plans; drainage, etc. Processes permit applications & calculates application and other related fees. Assigns work assignments and monitors all work activities. Inspects construction sites, soils, materials to be used and other specifications. Oversees the accurate maintenance of division records; prepares related reports. Monitors safety procedures in accordance with RCOC standards; manages division operations and prepares division budget recommendations. Acts as the agency liaison with railroad companies. Makes decisions frequently restricted only by board policy with little guidance from supervision. Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County. Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operations. Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position. Special experience/education : This position requires: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or related field. A minimum of five years of full time progressively more responsible road design and construction experience. Ability to use job related personal computer programs, software and information processing systems. Professional Engineer registered to practice in the State of Michigan. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver's License. Disclaimer Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid Driver's License.
