Job Description
Position Summary The Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day performance and strategic execution of our operations across all sites and service lines. Reporting to the CEO, this leader will own operational excellence, patient experience, regulatory compliance, staffing, and financial performance for the operations function. The Director will translate company strategy into measurable operational outcomes, build scalable systems, and lead a multidisciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a growth-stage healthcare environment and is energized by both running a tight ship today and building the infrastructure to support significant expansion tomorrow. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Own end-to-end operational performance across all infusion centers and service delivery channels (in-center, ambulatory, home infusion as applicable). Establish, monitor, and improve operational KPIs including chair utilization, patient throughput, on-time start rates, infusion completion rates, staff productivity, and patient satisfaction. Lead daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms; build dashboards and reporting cadences that drive accountability and continuous improvement. Standardize workflows, SOPs, and best practices across sites to ensure consistent, high-quality patient experiences. Clinical & Regulatory Compliance Partner with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure full compliance with state board of pharmacy regulations, OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, and accreditation standards. Oversee quality assurance, infection control, medication safety, and adverse event reporting programs. Maintain inspection-readiness across all sites and lead survey response activities. Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop a team, building a culture of ownership, service excellence, and operational discipline. Partner with HR on workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention strategies for nurses, pharmacy staff, patient access, and support roles. Establish clear performance expectations, career pathways, and development plans for operational staff. Patient Experience & Access Ensure every patient interaction — from referral to discharge — meets our standards for clinical quality, communication, and convenience. Partner with intake, prior authorization, scheduling, and billing teams to minimize patient friction and accelerate time-to-treatment. Use patient feedback (NPS, surveys, complaints) to drive operational improvements. Financial & Vendor Management Own the operations budget, including labor, supplies, facilities, and vendor spend; manage to monthly P&L targets in partnership with Finance. Negotiate and manage vendor relationships (medical supplies, GPO, specialty pharmacy, equipment, facilities services). Identify and implement margin improvement opportunities through procurement, scheduling optimization, and labor efficiency. Growth & Strategic Initiatives Lead operational planning and execution of new site openings, expansions, service line additions, and acquisitions. Partner with the executive team on strategic projects including payer expansion, new therapeutic areas, technology implementations, and M&A integration. Build the operational infrastructure (systems, processes, leadership bench) required to support growth. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate closely with Clinical, Pharmacy, Revenue Cycle, Sales/BD, IT, and Finance leaders to align operations with company-wide goals. Serve as a key voice in executive planning and represent operations in board-level discussions as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or related field. 5+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in healthcare, with at least 2 years in a director-level or equivalent role. Direct experience in infusion therapy, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care, dialysis, oncology, ASC, or another multi-site clinical services environment. Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations and leading teams across clinical and non-clinical functions. Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory and accreditation frameworks (USP 797/800, state pharmacy regulations, CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, ACHC/Joint Commission/URAC). Strong financial acumen — experience owning a P&L, building budgets, and managing labor and supply costs. Proven ability to build and improve processes, SOPs, and operational reporting from the ground up. Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MSN, or related). Experience opening new sites, integrating acquisitions, or scaling operations across geographies. Familiarity with infusion-specific systems Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certification.
