Job Overview Fairview is seeking a dedicated Manager of Plant Operations to lead maintenance and facilities operations at our Fairview Southdale location in Edina, MN. This role oversees daily plant maintenance activities, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with hospital standards and policies. The manager also serves as a key contact for assigned projects while ensuring a safe, reliable, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This is a full-time, day-shift role with no weekends—ideal for a hands-on leader with a passion for healthcare facilities excellence. Job Expectations Responsible for ensuring the department provides safe and reliable buildings and responds to the needs of the hospital or site as appropriate. Coordinates the scheduled equipment maintenance and maintains buildings and grounds as required by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies as appropriate. Reviews contingency plans and incident reports to ensure the department is prepared for emergencies. Responds to emergency, crisis and unscheduled repair needs. Investigates and responds appropriately to all complaints taking effective action as necessary. Trains, advises and assists staff to be able to perform routine tasks independently. Conducts fair, accurate and timely performance reviews. Provides feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis and assists employees in reaching goals. Responsible for effective fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of financial resources and assists with department budget according to established procedures. Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment as appropriate to meet the demands of the department. Works to ensure continuous quality improvement in all departmental areas. Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Communicates in a respective manner. Ensures a safe, secure environment. Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. Fulfills all organizational requirements. Completes all required learning relevant to the role. Complies with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards. Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited trade school in relevant field or possess equivalent work experience 3 years of experience in plant operations and maintenance Preferred Qualifications B.S./B.A. or Associates degree Mechanical or electrical engineering degree or certification 5 years of experience in plant operations and maintenance in a healthcare setting 1 year of supervisory experience Engineering License or certification Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM)
