Overview:
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading, strengthening, and scaling operational delivery organization through a combination of structured leadership, operational excellence, and team development. This role provides leadership across Actionable Imagery, Partner Relations, and VDC/BIM functions while ensuring the systems, processes, and people needed to support exceptional client delivery are aligned and operating effectively. The Director of Operations serves as the operational steward of the organization - creating clarity, accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement across multiple business-critical functions. Success in this role requires balancing analytical thinking, operational discipline, and people leadership. The ideal candidate is a trusted and approachable leader who enjoys building strong teams, developing future leaders, improving operational systems, and creating environments where people can perform at their best. They are naturally organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused, with the ability to translate complexity into clear processes, measurable outcomes, and reliable execution. This role will initially oversee Actionable Imagery, Partner Relations, and VDC/BIM teams and will play a significant role in the continued evolution of the internal operational organization as the company grows. Major Opportunities & Key Accountabilities Operational Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse operational organization encompassing Actionable Imagery, Partner Relations, and VDC/BIM functions. Foster a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Build effective working relationships across diverse personalities, experience levels, and functional disciplines. Conduct regular 1:1s, performance evaluations, coaching conversations, and leadership development planning. Develop future operational leaders through mentorship, succession planning, and career development initiatives. Support hiring, onboarding, and development of operational team members and future operational leaders. Serve as a visible and trusted leader during organizational growth, restructuring, and change initiatives. Organizational Stabilization & Operational Scaling Lead operational restructuring initiatives designed to improve scalability, accountability, and organizational alignment. Evaluate team structures and recommend organizational improvements that support future growth. Create operational clarity through defined ownership, reporting structures, escalation paths, and performance expectations. Establish scalable management systems capable of supporting future operational expansion. Drive organizational alignment across operational functions while maintaining service quality and delivery consistency. Cross-Functional Alignment & Delivery Excellence Ensure operational teams are aligned with Product, Software, Sales, Customer Success, and Leadership priorities. Act as the primary escalation point for delivery challenges, resource conflicts, workflow blockers, and operational risks. Partner closely with Product and Software leadership to coordinate operational readiness and platform-related initiatives. Improve communication and collaboration across operational teams to create seamless client delivery experiences. Ensure operational teams consistently meet client commitments, contractual requirements, and quality expectations. Workflow Optimization & Process Standardization Build, refine, document, and enforce operational SOPs, workflows, and reporting structures. Lead ongoing operational process improvement initiatives focused on scalability, efficiency, quality, and accountability. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions. Establish operational KPIs, dashboards, reporting cadences, and performance review mechanisms. Evaluate and implement tools, automation opportunities, and workflow enhancements that improve throughput and consistency. Promote continuous improvement through regular process audits and operational reviews. Program, Resource & Delivery Oversight Ensure operational programs consistently achieve performance targets related to delivery, quality, responsiveness, and client satisfaction. Monitor and improve operational KPIs including: On-Time Completion Project Margins Operational Quality Resource Utilization Escalation Management Client Satisfaction Oversee resource allocation and capacity planning across operational functions. Support operational decision-making related to scheduling, staffing, subcontractor utilization, and delivery execution. Ensure operational teams maintain clear expectations, documentation, and accountability standards. Financial & Capacity Management Partner with Finance and Leadership to support operational forecasting and resource planning. Monitor labor utilization, subcontractor spend, and operational cost performance. Support budget planning and cost optimization initiatives. Evaluate staffing requirements and recommend hiring, restructuring, or resource adjustments based on business needs. Provide operational insights that support pricing, scoping, and delivery planning decisions. Strategic Operations Leadership Lead the maturation of internal operational infrastructure by reducing dependency on founder-led execution and creating scalable operational systems. Develop operational frameworks that support future growth, organizational resilience, and predictable delivery outcomes. Collaborate with executive leadership on operational planning, scaling strategies, and workforce development initiatives. Partner with the COO to evaluate future organizational structures, including potential expansion of operational oversight into Project Management functions. Prepare operational reporting, recommendations, and insights for leadership review and strategic planning discussions.
Qualifications/Requirements :
Require d5-8+ years of operational leadership experience overseeing multi-functional or cross-disciplinary teams .Demonstrated experience leading teams through organizational growth, restructuring, or significant operational change .Proven success building trust, developing leaders, and coaching diverse teams .Experience balancing operational accountability with mentorship-focused leadership .Strong background in process design, workflow optimization, and KPI-driven performance management .Experience managing operational delivery in technology-enabled services, SaaS, field services, PropTech, digital production, or similar environments .Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization .Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities .Experience with project tracking, operational reporting, and workflow management systems .Strong financial acumen including forecasting, budgeting, and operational planning .Preferre dExperience in PropTech, construction technology, digital production, reality capture, geospatial services, or related industries .Experience managing subcontractor, contractor, or vendor-based delivery networks .Familiarity with CAD/BIM, VDC, reality capture, drone imagery, laser scanning, or digital twin workflows .Experience partnering closely with software, product, or technology organizations .Experience building scalable operational infrastructure within a growth-stage company .Experience leading both employee and contractor-based operational teams .
