Job Overview Join our welcoming team at The Yellow House as an Assistant Innkeeper, where your warmth and initiative will help create truly memorable stays for our guests. In this hands-on role, you'll work closely with the owners to support the smooth running of daily operations — from heartfelt guest interactions to fresh-baked breakfasts. The Assistant Innkeeper plays a key part in the inn's day-to-day operations, working under the direction of the owners and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities span both guest-facing services and behind-the-scenes support, including baking, food preparation, and meal service. The ideal candidate is highly service-oriented with strong customer relations skills, clear verbal and written communication, and a sharp eye for detail. We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, and genuinely eager to learn our way of doing things — all while being a reliable, collaborative team member. This role calls for someone self-motivated and adaptable, with a flexible approach to scheduling and a sincere commitment to creating positive experiences for overnight guests and day visitors alike. Reliability, honesty, and integrity are fundamental. A professional appearance is expected whenever guests are on the property. Duties Greet guests, answer phone calls, reply to emails, and provide exemplary customer service to all guests and vendors. Respond as quickly as possible to all guest inquiries for overnight accommodations, encouraging guests to make reservations. Ensure the Inn and its offices have appropriate and functioning technology and equipment. Assist with/ perform daily operations, including breakfast and food preparation, meal clean up, general cleaning, and laundry. Make recommendations to the owners concerning staffing and staff and vendor selection. Assist in training new staff members. Identify, perform, and/or coordinate property maintenance, cleaning projects, repairs, and special projects as requested. Be knowledgeable of the Waynesville area in order to give advice and make suggestions for activities and services to guests. Schedule tours and meetings with interested wedding couples. Assist in coordination of property usage with caterers and other required outside event staff. Understand and work toward achieving all business objectives created with the owners. Develop annual performance goals and objectives with the owners. Fulfill responsibilities of interim innkeeper during scheduled absence of the owners. Communicate operational and guest service issues with the owners daily. Other duties as assigned. Experience Previous experience in hospitality role is preferred. Experience with baking, cooking and food preparation is highly desired. While not required, the ideal candidate will be food safety certified. Experience with baking, cooking and food preparation is highly desired. Strong knowledge of hospitality management principles, including revenue management and guest services. Familiarity with front desk operations and phone etiquette is highly valued.
