Lead a crew of Operations personnel in the safe, compliant, and efficient operations of a premier natural gas fueled power plant in New Jersey. This is a merchant plant selling power into the PJM market offering great long term viability for the generation mix in the state. Direct reports include Control Room and Auxiliary Operators and you are the designated decision maker on shift when the management team leaves the site (nights and weekends primarily). This individual is not expected to perform startups and shutdowns of the units but is expected to be qualified incase of unsafe or upset conditions where its necessary. Pay and benefits are very competitive including a 15% bonus on total compensation (base hours and overtime hours) for the year.
Job Description:
General knowledge of Power Plant equipment and materials, operating procedure and standards to properly maintain and enforce cost effective, safe and efficient Facility Operations is desired. Strong leadership, oral and written communication and problem solving/decision making skills are a must. As a leadership role, this person must be able to direct his team through mentoring and coaching to develop excellence in the operation of a power plant. Delineate and enforce the safety and environmental procedures and policies for the Operations Department and other support teams. Closely monitor the production and maintenance activities of the facility and assist in planning and executing both scheduled and unscheduled outage work as well as the timely completion of operating duties. Confer with representatives of other departments in solving interrelated administrative, organizational and technical problems. Approval of all requests for removing equipment from service for maintenance or other purposes, and for ensuring that the equipment is properly tagged and cleared in accordance with plant procedures. Provides comprehensive management oversight for all plant activities to ensure safe and efficient operation and meet all organizational, legal and environmental requirements under all operating conditions Communicates the operational status of the generating assets to all levels of the organization Provides major interface with internal and external customers and entities as needed Manages costs within approved budget and continuously strives for additional effectiveness and methods to maximize value added, including effective and efficient operation of plant systems, work prioritization, and start up and shut down of plant equipment Manages site flexibilities, through controlling AGC ramp rates, sliding pressures, heat rate, combustion air density, back pressure operations, steam blending and steam bypass operations Identifies problems and provides input for solutions through examining and analyzing information in accordance with existing principles and practices, including making the final decision with primary control over the results Ensures administration, staffing, training, and development of staff, including maintaining knowledge and consistency in administering the collective bargaining agreement and applying positive discipline standards Leads or assists in the development and maintenance of the operations training programs, including ensures operations staff are trained for both site specific and organizational compliance Administers and ensures compliance with the Personnel Protection Procedures and provides leadership and counseling for the training, auditing, and error review processes associated Maintains expert knowledge of all the energy center equipment and systems, equipment performance, testing, risk management and outage management #ENG1
