Our team of skilled professionals, both in-house staff and trusted subcontractors, delivers exceptional services that exceed client expectations. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to join our team and drive operational excellence across all of our projects.
Job Summary:
The Director of Operations will oversee all aspects of the company's landscaping, hardscaping, snow management, and project management operations. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate will have an awesome attitude and a love of landscaping, hardscaping, and outdoor construction, as well as a strong background in landscaping, hardscaping, and some construction, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of operational success. This person must be able to communicate extremely well and work well with a wide variety of people, including customers, employees, subcontractors, vendors, and the greater community.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
Oversee daily operations of our landscaping and hardscaping crews, both in-house staff and subcontractors. Oversee snow management operations in winter months. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and refine standard operating procedures for all company positions (SOPs). Help with employee training and help implement training programs Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
Project Management:
Manage a portfolio of projects, from planning through completion. Work closely with our sales people to ensure that what is sold to the customer is what is completed for them. Coordinate with clients, designers, employees, and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction. Resolve any issues or delays promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines. Order and manage materials from vendors.
Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop team leaders and field staff as the company grows. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs to enhance team skills. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Financial Oversight:
Prepare and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost control and profitability. Analyze financial reports and make data-driven decisions to improve operational efficiency. Negotiate contracts/ pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to secure more favorable terms when needed. Review and finalize invoices for completed jobs
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure high standards of work. Conduct regular site inspections for all in-house crews and subcontractors to monitor work progress and compliance with safety regulations. Address and rectify any quality or safety concerns promptly with employees and subcontractors.
Client Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns. Ensure clear communication and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. Promote the company's services and capabilities to potential clients.
Strategic Planning:
Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and operational improvements. Identify opportunities for new services, markets, and partnerships. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Asset Management:
Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and assets are tracked and maintained properly
Availability:
April through November Monday through Friday, 7 am to 4 - 5:30 pm (Varies depending on what is needed seasonally/ each day). Saturdays as needed (can be either in person or available by phone). December through March (Snow Management). 24/7 as needed for snow storm management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within the landscaping, hardscaping, or related construction industry. Proven experience in managing large-scale landscaping and hardscaping projects. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in project management/ CRM software and Google Suite/ Microsoft Office Suite. Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting and cost management. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed (We serve 5 counties in the Capital District).
What We Offer:
Competitive base salary range of $78,000 to $104,000 per year Bonus incentives for target revenue goals of up to an additional $8,000 to $20,000 per year Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and life insurance. 401k plan with company match up to 4% after 1 year of full time service Paid vacation after 2 years.
