Job Description

We are a growing transportation company seeking a Billing & Settlement Team Lead who is ready to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate is not only highly skilled in transportation billing and settlements but also possesses the leadership qualities necessary to support team development, drive accountability, and identify opportunities for operational improvement. What You'll Bring Previous experience in trucking, logistics, or transportation, with a strong understanding of freight billing, settlements, and driver payroll. Demonstrated leadership potential through prior supervisory, team lead, mentoring, or coaching experience. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Associate Degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, business administration, or transportation operations preferred. Key Responsibilities Billing & Settlement Operations Generate accurate customer invoices and review customer rate agreements to ensure proper billing and revenue capture. Process weekly driver and carrier settlements accurately and on schedule. Audit freight bills for compliance with customer requirements, contractual agreements, and company policies. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, settlement issues, and data integrity concerns by partnering with Agency Managers and internal departments. Monitor daily workflows and proactively address issues that may impact service levels, accuracy, or deadlines. Leadership & Team Development Serve as a resource and leader for the Billing & Settlement team, providing day-to-day guidance, support, and problem resolution. Assist with on-boarding, training, and mentoring team members to promote professional growth and operational consistency. Help foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Monitor workload distribution, productivity, and accuracy to support departmental goals. Communicate operational challenges, trends, and improvement opportunities to management. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions that improve accuracy, streamline workflows, and enhance the customer experience. Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining departmental procedures and best practices. Support initiatives focused on scalability, process standardization, and operational efficiency. Contribute ideas that strengthen internal controls and improve overall department performance.
