Job Description
Trace Lawn & Landscaping is looking for an experienced, motivated Operations Manager to help oversee our day-to-day field operations. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines field work, crew management, equipment oversight, scheduling, customer communication, and office responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is a strong leader, problem solver, and self-starter . The right person will be comfortable taking charge of daily operations while also being willing to work alongside the crew when needed. This is not strictly an office position—you will be actively involved in the field and expected to help get the job done. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Schedule and coordinate landscaping, maintenance, and seasonal jobs Manage and oversee field crews and daily operations Help organize employee schedules, job assignments, equipment, and resources Be on-site for larger or more complex projects to provide leadership and ensure work is completed properly Work alongside crews and assist in completing jobs when necessary Safely operate trucks, trailers, and landscaping/construction equipment Help oversee the garage and equipment operations alongside our mechanic Coordinate equipment preparation and maintenance for upcoming seasons, including transitioning between summer operations and snow operations Participate in snow and ice operations, including plowing snow Communicate professionally with customers regarding jobs, concerns, scheduling, and project needs Communicate effectively with employees, management, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers Order and purchase materials, equipment, and supplies as needed Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors Monitor jobs for quality control and quality assurance Troubleshoot problems in the field and make sound decisions to keep jobs moving Help ensure crews have the proper equipment, materials, information, and direction before leaving for jobs Assist with improving efficiency, organization, and accountability throughout daily operations Take ownership of problems and follow through until they are resolved What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Is a strong, confident leader who can take charge while still working well with others Leads by example and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty Has experience managing employees or field crews Has landscaping, construction, excavation, snow removal, or similar field experience Is comfortable operating equipment Is highly organized and able to manage multiple jobs and priorities at once Can make decisions and solve problems independently Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers Understands the importance of quality workmanship and customer satisfaction Is dependable, accountable, and willing to step in wherever needed Is comfortable working both in the field and in the office Is available for snow and ice operations, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and extended hours when weather requires About the Position This is a key leadership role within Trace Lawn & Landscaping. We need someone who can look at the bigger picture of daily operations while still being willing to jump into a truck, operate equipment, help a crew finish a job, solve an issue on-site, or handle responsibilities in the office. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of the operation, lead the team, anticipate problems, and help keep our crews, equipment, and jobs running efficiently.
