Job Description

Role Summary We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and safety-driven Operations Manager to lead, optimize, and scale our regional trucking operations. Based out of Houston, TX, this role requires weekly travel to our secondary base in Beaumont, TX, to maintain operational alignment and presence. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience in fleet management, dispatch coordination, and driver relations. You will serve as the strategic and operational core of the fleet, ensuring stringent DOT compliance, efficient logistics execution, and seamless communication across drivers, management, and the maintenance department as our business continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities Daily Operations & Dispatch:
Oversee the day-to-day dispatching, routing, and scheduling of 11+ trucks, ensuring maximum asset utilization and timely deliveries of coil and scrap freight.
Driver Management & Leadership:
Directly manage and support our current team of 10 drivers. Champion recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and retention strategies as the driver roster expands.
DOT Compliance & Safety:
Enforce strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) and electronic logbook/ELD management. Maintain an uncompromised safety culture; manage roadside inspections aggressively, ensuring that any findings or violations are handled with the same urgency and critical analysis as an accident.
Maintenance Coordination:
Collaborate directly with the Maintenance Manager to facilitate preventative maintenance cycles and rapid emergency repairs for flatbeds and end dumps, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring peak operational safety.
Cross-Location Alignment:
Travel to the Beaumont, TX terminal at least once per week to conduct operational audits, interface with local personnel, and guarantee seamless standard operating procedures across both facilities.
Interdepartmental Communication:
Leverage excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as the critical liaison between field drivers, maintenance staff, and executive management, fostering a highly collaborative environment.
Qualifications & Technical Requirements Professional Experience:
Proven track record in logistics, trucking operations management, dispatching, and direct driver supervision.
Equipment & Commodity Knowledge:
Practical experience managing flatbed operations is required. Prior experience handling specialized industrial commodities such as steel coils and scrap metal is highly advantageous.
Regulatory Expertise:
Deep, up-to-date knowledge of
FMCSA/DOT
compliance rules, safety protocols, and audit procedures.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Practical experience utilizing Motive (formerly KeepTruckin) ELD/fleet management software and Vektor systems is highly desirable.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Outstanding communication, conflict resolution, and leadership abilities. Must be adept at building mutual trust with drivers while firmly enforcing operational accountability.
Language Proficiency:
Bilingual capabilities (English and Spanish) are highly desirable to effectively engage with our diverse team of professional drivers.
Mobility:
Reside in the greater Houston area, hold a valid driver's license, and possess full flexibility to travel to Beaumont, TX on a weekly basis.
Pay:
$5,500.00 - $6,000.00 per month
