Job Description

We're looking for a full-time Operations Manager to serve as the operational backbone of Alaska Wild Lights and directly enable our goal of becoming the number one rated northern lights tourism company in North America before 2029. You'll lead a team of 15 and own the systems, culture, and daily operations that make unforgettable guest experiences possible at scale. This is a hybrid role based in Fairbanks, Alaska with performance bonuses tied to your key performance indicators. Your Role Lead daily operations and the full team to support sustainable, profitable growth. Translate company priorities into clear operational plans with measurable KPIs. Own and continuously refine systems, processes, and training programs that scale with the business. Drive hiring, onboarding, and team development to build a culture where top performers seek us out. Own vendor relationships, fleet management, guide scheduling, and tour logistics. Enforce all safety and risk mitigation protocols across operations. What Success Looks Like Within Year One Cancellation rate reduced to under 10% through proactive guest communication systems and operational tightening. COGS and operational expenses reduced by 20% through smarter resource allocation and process improvements. Team culture is strong enough that hiring leads seek us out rather than the other way around. Tour operations run efficiently enough that ownership spends fewer than 10 hours per week on day-to-day decisions. Key vendor and partner relationships maintained and expanded. We're Looking For Someone Who Operates autonomously and takes disciplined initiative without waiting to be told. Solves problems resourcefully and at the lowest level before escalating. Has 3 or more years of leadership experience managing teams in fast-paced operational environments. Has a proven track record of developing people, driving operational excellence, and building culture that retains talent. Communicates with clarity, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal tact across guides, vendors, guests, and ownership. Is passionate about sharing Fairbanks with the world and building something from the inside. Pay:
$76,000.00 per year
