Job DescriptionThe NASA Transport Operations Manager owns day-to-day execution across the Americas transportation operation. The position leads the ATL shift structure and DFW operational leadership, ensuring consistent coverage, disciplined execution, effective escalation management and achievement of customer service commitments across all shifts and locations.
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead daily transportation operations across ATL, DFW and other assigned Americas locations.
Direct and develop the ATL first-, second-, third-shift and weekend supervisors, the DFW Transport Operations Supervisor and designated team leads.
Establish clear shift handovers, coverage plans, workload allocation and escalation paths across the 24/7 operating model.
Monitor service levels, on-time-in-full performance, failure reason coding, operational quality, backlog, productivity and staffing.
Ensure supervisors complete daily management routines, coaching, training, attendance management and performance follow-up.
Act as the primary operational escalation point and lead service recovery, containment, root-cause analysis and corrective-action execution.
Coordinate with warehouses, contract manufacturers, suppliers and carriers to resolve operational issues and maintain flow.
Implement standard operating procedures, controls, safety and security requirements consistently across locations and shifts.
Partner with the Enablement & Process Excellence Manager to test and adopt dashboards, productivity tools, automation and process improvements.
Support implementation and operational readiness for new sites, carriers, lanes and programmes.
Prepare regular operational performance updates and provide accurate risks, actions and resource requirements to the Senior Manager.
Promote a culture of accountability, customer service, cross-shift collaboration and continuous improvement.
Travel to customer, supplier, warehouse and operational locations as required.
QualificationsQualifications, Experience and Education RequirementsMinimum 5+ years of transportation or logistics experience and 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
Demonstrated experience leading multi-shift, high-volume or multi-location operations.
Operational knowledge of air, road, ocean and parcel transportation.
Working knowledge of dispatch, track and trace, TMS, WMS and YMS systems.
Strong skills in workforce planning, prioritisation, escalation management, root-cause analysis and performance management.
Ability to host operational meetings, communicate with customer stakeholders and drive change through front-line leaders.
Strong time-management, decision-making and communication skills.
Self-starter with a highly motivated, results-driven attitude.
Availability for domestic travel and occasional international travel.
