Salary + Performance Bonus (based on profitability, utilization, and safety metrics) Position Summary The Trucking Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the trucking fleet, including dispatch, driver management, compliance, maintenance coordination, fuel monitoring, and operational efficiency. This role ensures the fleet operates safely, profitably, and in full compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and state regulations. This individual acts as the central operational leader, coordinating drivers, equipment, customers, and vendors while optimizing utilization and controlling costs. Core Responsibilities Fleet Operations & Dispatch Manage daily dispatch of trucks, trailers, and drivers Optimize routes for efficiency, profitability, and compliance Monitor fleet utilization and ensure maximum productive use of equipment Coordinate load scheduling with customers, brokers, and dispatch systems Track truck locations using GPS/fleet management systems (Geotab, Samsara, etc.) Respond to operational issues, delays, or emergencies Driver Management Hire, onboard, and train drivers Maintain driver qualification files and compliance records Ensure drivers comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations Monitor driver performance, safety, and productivity Schedule driver rotations and ensure adequate coverage Conduct regular driver meetings and performance reviews Compliance & Regulatory Management Ensure compliance with: FMCSA regulations DOT requirements Texas intrastate and interstate trucking rules Hours of Service regulations Drug & alcohol testing programs Vehicle inspections and reporting Maintain and monitor: Driver logs (ELD) IFTA reporting IRP registration UCR registration Insurance compliance Safety and audit readiness Equipment & Maintenance Management Oversee maintenance scheduling and preventative maintenance programs Coordinate repairs with vendors and mechanics Maintain maintenance records for all trucks and trailers Monitor equipment condition and lifecycle planning Ensure DOT inspections and annual inspections are completed Minimize downtime and repair costs Financial & Operational Performance Monitor operational costs including: Fuel Maintenance Driver pay Insurance Repairs Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs): Cost per mile Revenue per truck Fuel efficiency Equipment utilization Profit per load Identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency Fuel & Expense Management Monitor fuel usage and fuel card transactions (WEX, Comdata, etc.) Identify fuel inefficiencies or misuse Control and approve operational expenses Customer & Vendor Coordination Maintain relationships with customers, brokers, and vendors Resolve service issues or delivery concerns Coordinate with maintenance vendors and service providers Systems & Reporting Maintain accurate operational records Utilize fleet management and accounting software Provide weekly and monthly operational reports to ownership Track load profitability and operational metrics
Required Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years trucking operations, fleet management, or dispatch experience Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations Experience managing drivers and fleet operations
