This role combines hands-on technical leadership, workflow coordination, quality oversight, and employee development to ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. What You'll Do:
Lead and support a team of Shop Technicians, providing daily guidance, coaching, and technical expertise Coordinate shop workflow and technician assignments to ensure efficient utilization of labor and timely completion of repairs Serve as the primary technical resource for complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair-related challenges Review work orders for completeness, accuracy, proper documentation, and timely closure Conduct regular Work in Progress (WIP) reviews to ensure jobs remain on schedule and are completed within established timelines Monitor shop productivity, efficiency, and quality metrics while identifying opportunities for improvement Support the Field Service Manager with technician performance management, goal setting, and employee development initiatives Assist with onboarding and training new technicians, helping them develop technical skills and knowledge of company processes Perform quality control inspections to ensure repairs meet company standards and customer expectations Maintain a safe, organized, and professional shop environment in compliance with company policies and safety standards Collaborate with Parts, Service, and Operations teams to ensure efficient job execution and customer satisfaction Assist with customer communication and service-related concerns as needed Provide hands-on technical support and perform repairs when necessary to support shop operations Conduct regular equipment, tool, and shop inspections to maintain safety and operational readiness Identify and implement process improvements that increase productivity, efficiency, and overall service quality
What You Need:
5+ years of experience as a technician in industrial equipment, maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred Strong technical expertise in equipment diagnostics, repair, and troubleshooting Proven ability to lead by example and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety Strong understanding of service department operations, including work order management, labor tracking, and workflow coordination Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Experience coaching, training, and developing technicians Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software; experience with EquipSoft and Tinnacity preferred Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, certifications, or additional education preferred Ability to participate in after-hours support rotation as needed
