VENUE OVERVIEW
The Fredericksburg Convention Center is one of Virginia's premier event venues, offering over 120,000 square feet of flexible space for conventions, trade and consumer shows, banquets, weddings, and a wide range of special events. POSITION SUMMARY
The Supervisor of Operations is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing event setup, breakdown, and daily facility operations. This position works closely with the Director of Operations and leads operational staff to ensure events are executed safely, efficiently, and at a high standard. Supervisors are working leaders who are actively involved in physical operations, including moving equipment, setting up event spaces, and supporting the team throughout each event. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced, and schedule-driven role where no two days are the same.

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS
This is not a traditional Monday-Friday position. Event schedules drive operations, and supervisors must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours as needed. Candidates seeking a standard weekday office schedule may not be a fit for this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee event setup, breakdown, and conversion processes Supervise and support Operations Staff during daily activities and events Ensure safety procedures and OSHA standards are followed Assist with custodial, maintenance, and facility upkeep tasks Support security and emergency preparedness procedures Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of the facility Manage equipment inventory and assist with logistics coordination Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor lifts (training provided if needed) Work extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required Attend staff and coordination meetings in the Director's absence Prioritize tasks to meet tight event deadlines Maintain strong working relationships with clients, staff, and vendors Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of supervisory, team lead, or operations leadership experience preferred Forklift and Scissor Lift certification preferred (training available if needed) Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent attention to detail Strong communication and customer service skills Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards preferred Reliable transportation required Ability to perform physically demanding work for full shifts Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours Proven record of dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to lead in a hands-on, team-based environment Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced setting Must be able to successfully pass a background check
