Director of Field Operations and Maintenance Location:
Richmond, Virginia Starting Compensation Range:
$200,000 - $240,000 + annual bonus eligibility The Director of Field Operations and Maintenance is responsible for leading the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mobile and modular distributed power plants utilizing natural gas turbines and natural gas reciprocating engines. These systems are deployed in both grid-interconnected and behind-the-meter applications across data centers, utilities, oil and gas, and industrial markets. Operating within a turnkey, owner-operator business model, this role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all fielded assets. The Director of Field Operations and Maintenance leads field teams, oversees preventative and corrective maintenance programs, coordinates major service events with Parent Company (CAT Dealer), and leverages SCADA and energy management systems to optimize performance and uptime. Requirements for the Director of Field Operations and Maintenance position include: Field leadership and team management Operational reliability and uptime optimization Preventative and predictive maintenance SCADA and system performance monitoring Vendor and OEM coordination Safety and compliance focus Work with team to promote positive customer experiences Uphold the Core Values of Integrity, Communication, Excellence and Teamwork by embracing The Carter Way Seeking candidates with: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent field experience) Minimum 12 years of experience in power generation operations and maintenance Hands-on experience with natural gas turbines and/or reciprocating engines Experience managing field teams in a multi-site or mobile asset environment Strong understanding of SCADA systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and remote monitoring tools Experience with maintenance planning and tracking systems (CMMS) Experience with Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or working with CAT dealers Experience in data center, industrial, utility, or oil and gas environments Familiarity with grid-interconnected and behind-the-meter applications Experience with modular or rapidly deployable power systems
