Having successfully scaled to a second full-capacity crew, we are looking for a Field Operations Manager to serve as our operational right hand and bridge the gap between sales and field execution. This is a working leadership role designed for an experienced professional who has mastered crew management, takes immense pride in a hard day's work, and is ready to step into a key leadership position. We do not expect you to run the show solo on Day One; instead, you will work directly alongside the Owner during your first season to master our specific routing, quality, and leadership systems. System Ownership & Field Authority:

Company Work Truck:
You will be assigned a clean, reliable, and professionally equipped company truck to utilize for all daily operations, site visits, and field leadership during working hours (vehicles remain at the shop at the end of the day) Key Responsibilities 1.
Operational Routing & Daily Leadership The Daily Launch:
Completely own the morning rollout. Ensure all crews start exactly on time, are fully staged with materials, are in uniform, and are clear on their budgeted labor hours for the day.
Route Optimization:
Actively manage and build weekly mowing and landscaping schedules. Adjust routes dynamically on the fly to account for heavy weather surges, staff call-outs, or equipment issues.
Asset & Fleet Stewardship:
Oversee the organization and cleanliness of the shop, trucks, and trailers. Ensure all commercial mowers and handheld tools are fueled, sharp, and properly maintained. 2. Team Coaching & Performance Lead by
Example:
Train and onboard new hires on company techniques and efficiency standards to eliminate costly callbacks.
Accountability & Culture:
Actively coach and encourage staff in the field. Reinforce strict safety compliance, handle incident reporting, and assist the owner by providing direct recommendations for the hiring and disciplinary process. 3. Fieldwork & Complex Project Management The "Thursday Standard": You are a working manager. Currently, you will spend Thursdays full-time in the field leading our landscaping projects (sod installation, rock, mulch refreshes) to guarantee a pristine, five-star finish. •This will evolve to you not working with the crews shoulder to shoulder every week.
Dynamic Support:
Willingly step onto a mowing or landscaping crew to push production forward if the team is short-staffed or running behind schedule due to rain or seasonal grass growth surges. 4.
Conduct property site visits to estimate exact man-hours and material requirements for new jobs. (
Note:
The Owner handles all final pricing and closing sales with the customer).
Active Route Hustle:
During any slow times in the main season, you will actively look to land more quotes in our target neighborhoods using door hangers, cloverleaf marketing around active job sites, and direct property-owner contact.
Upsell & Scope Management:
Identify changes in project scope on active job sites and communicate them to the owner before work proceeds. Look for property enhancement opportunities (hedge trimming, overgrowth, drainage needs) while conducting site audits. 5.
Off-Season Development & Winter Operations Winter Snow Management:
Completely oversee the winter snow and ice operations. This includes coordinating snowplows, salters, and subcontractors, mapping out winter weather game plans, and being actively out in the field during snow events ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
Commercial Prospecting:
Utilize the winter months to help drum up new business by actively prospecting new commercial accounts, distributing marketing materials, and placing yard signs.
System Development:
Work closely with the owner during the off-season to refine company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), review historical operational metrics, and ensure the fleet is fully prepared for the spring rush. What This Role Does NOT Handle Final pricing formulas or closing client sales contracts. Invoicing, bookkeeping, or company financials. The final, legal signature on hiring or terminations (you document performance and provide the direct recommendation to the Owner).

Years of Leadership Experience:
Proven track record as a Crew Lead, Supervisor, Foreman, or Manager leading outdoor/hands-on crews.
Flexible Industry Background:
Experience in commercial lawn care/landscaping is a major plus, but we are highly open to exceptional leaders from adjacent outdoor/labor industries such as Residential Construction, Tree Services, Roofing, Utilities, or Military Leadership. • If you know how to run a crew, manage field logistics, and enforce high standards, we can teach you the turf.
Winter Operations Familiarity:
Experience with or a strong willingness to learn and work winter snow/ice management events.
Local & Reliable:
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to our shop.
