Day Shift Order Picker

This is a physically demanding job, and employees must be physically fit and able to bend over and down, twist, reach overhead, repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, and maintain awareness of the surroundings to operate in a safe manner. There is a requirement to walk and stand for your entire shift. Orders are staged on carts or pallet jacks, so the employee must have the ability to walk and pull a heavy cart or pallet jack. Product is pulled from pallets on the floor, racking and shelves, and out of cardboard boxes and bins. Orders are dispatched to selectors on an RF scan gun, which means the employee will need the ability to read both alpha and numeric information and understand how to pull the product. The warehouse is refrigerated to 33 degrees, and the environment is cold and under artificial lighting. All employees are required to follow warehouse safety guidelines, wear appropriate clothing, and maintain food safety. Orders may be built on wooden or plastic pallets and may need to be wrapped. All products must be labelled appropriately. Orders are to be loaded onto trucks and efficiently stacked for delivery. Labels must be attached, and the back of the truck should be organized and neat.

Minimum age:

18 years old Selecting, pulling, labelling, staging, loading and cleanup, in a fast-paced warehouse. Ability to count accurately and follow direction Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to read both alphabetic and numerical characters as displayed Ability to follow procedures Ability to use freight moving equipment Ability to work in a cold environment, approximately 32 degrees F Ability to lift repeatedly and safely up to 50 pounds
