May be assigned to one or more of 5 main categories of direct embroidery support, which may change frequently as needs dictate - Locating, Processing, Cleaning, Special Projects, and General, as follows:Locating:
Responsible for accurate location storage of received goods into the storage area after they have been received and recording the locations and package numbers as required.Processing:
Processing orders for production as they are issued and recording status and other data as required. Retrieving packages of product required for orders from storage by matching package ID numbers and location ID numbers to the orders and staging for production.Cleaning:
Verifies that embroidered products are accurate and match the order in regard to all requirements - for example, garment colors, sizes, types, and styles; and that the design matches in regard to design numbers, placements, and colors. If unsure, will follow the process in place, and/or notify management or supervision. Inspects the quality of the logos. Trims excess backing and/or topping from the embroidery designs. Trims any loose or extra threads from the embroidery; removes any chalk marks, or any other undesirable artifacts from production.Special Projects:
Retrieve, inspect, and consolidate multiple orders into one or more "batches" of orders for production either by an outside vendor or in house. "Shop" (un-batching - taking the group of consolidated orders and separating them back out by order as required) finished "batches" of orders after production is finished by either an outside vendor or in house staff. Cleaning batched garments per the same requirements above under "Cleaning". Packaging per any unique customer requirements, such as bag by order, bag by individual, special folds or tagging.General:
May assist Decoration Specialists - Direct Embroidery by obtaining and delivering materials needed for production, such as thread, backing, and needles; running errands; obtaining answers for questions, and other tasks. May be asked to assist the operator in threading the machines, hooping garments, or inspecting finished work. Other tasks as business needs dictate. Will be required to enter or select various order and/or item status data into a computer, handheld device, or other recording medium, to update and track orders and status of line items on orders. Orders must be updated as they transition from one area to another and closed out for shipping and billing. It may be required to manually enter data into one or more places, including but not limited to spreadsheets, specialized software, or handwritten on paper. Must use a Production sheet or other digital means to keep an accurate tally of total pieces produced each day along with other required information. Must meet production standards and requirements daily. Production standards may be updated periodically to increase accuracy and account for any changes in processes or type of work. May be required to cross-train to be a back-up on other machinery or in other positions. May be required to assist in training new employees or to help increase productivity in the department. Must maintain a clean and organized work area. If necessary, will assist in cleaning, packing, and shipping stitch out samples and garment orders.- Regularly employs continuous improvement techniques and practices in all activities. Performs duties in compliance with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations and adheres to all Penn Emblem policies and safety procedures. Utilize all personal protective equipment as required for personal safety and the safety of their peers.

Responsible for accurately reviewing work orders and other paperwork, either printed or digital, to determine the specific type, colors, and placement(s) of the embroidery design(s) to be sewn onto various products; and that the products to be embroidered match the order in regard to size, color, type, and style. Must use a computer to look up and retrieve the correct design to embroider, then transfer that design to one or more embroidery machines. Will be required to enter or select various order and/or item status indicators and data into a computer, handheld device, or other recording method, in order to update and track orders and status of line items on the order. Responsible for setting up one or more embroidery machines to produce the required embroidery, including but not limited to setting up the proper thread colors, loading designs into the embroidery machines, setting color sequences necessary for the design, and making any appropriate settings changes or other adjustments to the machines. Responsible for choosing the correct backing and/or topping material(s) for the logo and item being embroidered. Responsible for choosing the correct size and type of embroidery hoop to use, correctly hooping the item for the best quality, and accurately hooping the item to be embroidered for the required placement location on the item. Must use a Production sheet or other digital means to keep an accurate tally of total pieces produced each day along with other required information. Must meet production standards and requirements daily. Production standards may be updated periodically to increase accuracy and account for any changes in processes or type of work. May be required to work either individually or as part of a team or other collective group. Observe machines while sewing to detect defects in stitching that might indicate the machine is malfunctioning or needs adjustment. Make tension or other adjustments and perform minor maintenance as necessary. If repairs are needed, must immediately notify supervision or management. Perform daily required maintenance, such as, but not limited to, cleaning and oiling various areas and parts, per machine maintenance requirements and procedures. Record maintenance when performed in a daily maintenance log. Responsible for running machine(s) and head(s) at optimum efficiency with the goal being to have all heads on all machines running all the time, while still producing first quality embroidery. Responsible for making sure that the finished product is accurate and meets quality standards. If unsure, will follow the processes in place, and/or notify management or supervision.
