Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:
Load and unload material into and out of machines, including adjusting material as needed. Contribute to the efficient production of steel products that meet customer specifications. Perform in-process inspection of materials and maintain high quality output standards. Package finished goods for customer delivery or floor stock, including palletizing and banding when requested. Maintain a clean work area and follow proper housekeeping practices. Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Report all accidents, incidents, and unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Able to read and comprehend work orders, instructions, and safety and procedural manuals. Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language. Ability to use and interpret tape measurer and other measuring instruments as required. Ability to drive a forklift and operate an overhead crane (company will train and certify).
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Carrying up to 50 pounds at waist level for a distance no greater than 5 feet on a semi-frequent basis. Must be able to bend, squat, and/or crouch down using knee and hip movement frequently. Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Ability to push and pull weight of up to 30 pounds at chest level. Utilize manual dexterity of arms, elbows, wrists, and fingers. Ability to visually interpret multiple shades of colors as well as hear, speak, and interpret sounds. Work may be performed near moderate to continuous loud noise.
