Job Description

Job Title:
Inspector - This is located in Chicago Heights as the base location but will have to eventually travel to other sites Job Description The Inspector performs detailed visual and physical inspections of packaged products and materials to ensure they meet quality and packaging standards. This role focuses on checking packaging conditions, verifying labeling accuracy, confirming container integrity, and validating that finished products match customer orders. The Inspector accurately documents inspection results, collects samples according to written instructions, and promptly communicates any issues or concerns to quality assurance leadership while following all site safety procedures. Responsibilities Perform visual and physical inspections of packaged products and materials to ensure they meet established quality standards. Check packaging conditions, including seals, wrapping, and overall appearance, to confirm they meet specifications. Verify labeling accuracy, including product information, codes, and other required details on packaging. Confirm container integrity by checking for damage, leaks, or other defects. Conduct basic inspection activities and measurements as instructed by quality procedures. Collect product samples according to written instructions and standard operating procedures. Accurately document inspection results, measurements, and observations in the required formats and systems. Visually count products in boxes to verify quantities against order and production documentation. Weigh boxes to confirm they meet specified weight ranges and order requirements. Verify that the contents of each order match the finished product specifications and documentation. Count, sort, and verify products and materials to support accurate order fulfillment and quality control. Perform manual inspection of final orders to ensure accuracy and completeness before shipment. Identify, document, and communicate any quality issues, discrepancies, or concerns to quality assurance leadership in a timely manner. Follow all site safety procedures, guidelines, and best practices while working on the production floor and in the warehouse. Support general labor and inspection-related tasks as needed to maintain efficient operations. Essential Skills 2-3 years of manual inspecting experience in a production, packaging, or warehouse environment. Proven experience performing visual inspections and quality checks on products and packaging. Demonstrated ability to inspect orders, including counting, weighing, and verifying finished products against order requirements. Strong attention to detail when visually counting products in boxes and verifying quantities. Ability to accurately weigh boxes and interpret basic measurement results. Experience with quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance activities. Capability to perform general labor tasks such as lifting, sorting, counting, wrapping, and staging products. Reliable documentation skills to record inspection results and observations accurately. Ability to follow written instructions and standard operating procedures for sampling and inspection. Strong communication skills to clearly report issues or concerns to quality assurance leadership. Commitment to following site safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in packaging, picking, packing, and handling packaged products in a production or warehouse setting. Experience in batch mixing or similar production processes is beneficial. Familiarity with verifying final orders and ensuring accuracy before shipment. Comfort working in both smaller and larger production teams across multiple facilities. Ability to adapt to different production lines, equipment setups, and workflows. Strong organizational skills to support accurate staging and handling of products. Willingness to travel between multiple local facilities as scheduled, with mileage reimbursement provided. Work Environment You work primarily on 1st shift from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in clean, temperature-controlled production and warehouse environments. The role is based out of the Chicago Heights area, with scheduled rotations to additional nearby facilities, and mileage is reimbursed when traveling between sites. The Alsip facility is a modern, very clean, and organized operation with a recently remodeled layout, a smaller workforce of roughly 10-15 people on 1st shift, and a clear division between the production floor and warehouse. It has fewer lines, kettles, fillers, and blenders, and places a strong emphasis on safety and orderly inventory and supplies. The Chicago Heights facility is larger and more active, with a bigger workforce and many more production lines, resulting in a fast-paced environment that can feel busy and dynamic at times. It is also temperature controlled, includes security checkpoints at the front, and offers multiple break rooms for employees. Operations at both sites are similar, focusing on manufacturing products, bottling, staging, and shipping, with Alsip handling more customized orders and pallets and Chicago Heights managing more continuous batches and repetitive client orders. The chemicals handled at both sites are described as not harmful, and safety remains a major focus across all locations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Alsip, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
