Packer $20 - 22 Job Description This role involves working in a fast-paced production environment to manually load, pack, sort, and transport materials and products while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness. You will handle finished goods, operate and adjust automated packaging equipment, and ensure products are properly labeled, palletized, and prepared for staging or disposal. Responsibilities Manually load, pack, sort, and transport materials and finished products along the production line. Hand-stack finished goods and organize boxes into consistent, stable patterns for shipping or storage. Set up, change, and replace film rolls on automated packaging machinery according to production requirements. Monitor packaging equipment during operation and ensure products are packaged according to specifications. Palletize product cartons for disposal, staging, or shipment, ensuring pallets are safely and securely stacked. Label, stack, and organize products and materials to maintain accurate order flow and inventory control. Perform visual inspection of products to identify defects, damage, or quality issues and remove nonconforming items. Use basic material handling tools, including pallet jacks and RF scanners, to move and track inventory. Assist with picking, order picking, loading, and unloading materials as needed. Clean production equipment, work areas, and trenches to maintain a safe and orderly manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Demonstrated ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate workplace procedures. Proven capability to meet established safety and quality standards in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy. Proficiency in English to ensure effective training, communication, and documentation. Experience in production, packing, packaging, or working on a production line. Ability to perform visual inspection of products to ensure quality and consistency. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks. Capability to perform heavy lifting and manual material handling safely. Work Environment You will work in a manufacturing environment that is fast paced and focused on consistent production output. The role involves standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, and frequent heavy lifting as you load, unload, and move materials and products. You will work around automated packaging machinery, pallet jacks, and RF scanners, and will handle tasks such as palletizing, labeling, stacking, and general material handling. The facility follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), with a strong emphasis on cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and quality procedures. Work areas, equipment, and trenches must remain clean and free of debris, and you will regularly participate in general cleaning and recycling tasks. The setting is structured and process-driven, with clear production workflows and expectations for meeting productivity, safety, and quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
