Packaging Operator / Packer 1st - 6am-2:30pm 2nd 11am-7:30pm Job Description The Packaging Operator is responsible for accurately and safely packaging a variety of flavor products, including powders, spray-dried materials, liquids, emulsions, and extracts, according to detailed batch tickets. This role works closely with Batch Processors to ensure food safety, product quality, and operational efficiency while operating equipment such as mixers, spray dryers, and blending tanks. The Packaging Operator reads and verifies labels, follows safety procedures, and ensures that each finished product is packaged in the correct quantity with the proper labeling requirements. Responsibilities Package final flavor products, including powders, spray-dried products, liquids, emulsions, and extracts, according to directions on each batch ticket. Work closely with Batch Processors to coordinate and complete packaging activities with a focus on food safety, quality, efficiency, and accuracy. Operate production machinery such as mixers, spray dryers, blending tanks, and related equipment as required for packaging operations. Observe production processes and monitor equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation. Record operational and production data accurately on specified forms and documentation. Transfer materials, supplies, and finished products between work areas using equipment such as sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Ensure that each finished product is packaged in the correct quantity and with the correct labels and packaging materials. Understand and apply food safety principles and recognize their importance in all products and processes. Promptly communicate any food safety concerns or issues to shift leads or management. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all packaging tasks, including setup, operation, and shutdown of equipment. Perform sanitation and cleaning of equipment and work areas after each batch, following established sanitation procedures. Handle and move boxes and containers of various weights, including 50 lb boxes of spray-dry and powder products and 25-30 lb liquid containers, as part of routine tasks. Rotate through different tasks within spray dry, powder, and liquid packaging areas to support team coverage and maintain productivity. Use palletizing, stacking, picking, loading, and general material handling techniques to support production flow. Apply labels accurately and consistently to packaged products in accordance with product specifications and regulatory requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wauconda, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
