ABOUT PD

Summary The Packer is responsible for ensuring that the quality and quantity of packaged goods conform to the company's standards. The Packer position secures packed items by gluing, tying, stapling, or attaching fasteners and packs items according to quality standards. This position balances teamwork and individual work to ensure packaged orders are filled in both a timely and efficient manner. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Responsible for packing integrity and quality audit checks on all packaging orders Maintains a clean and safe work area by ensuring that the work areas are clean and well organized Maintains and repairs packing equipment on a regular basis Operates a variety of material handling equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, gas and electric forklifts as needed to perform certain aspects of the job Handles and discards waste after packing is complete in a safe and responsible manner Performs regular and preventative maintenance on packing machines to ensure optimum work cycles Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration and empowerment Follows all safety and workplace policies Competencies and Skills Exhibits good communication skills such as listening and comprehension Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in producing quality products Balances team and individual responsibilities Able to become certified to operate material handling equipment including Forklifts and electric pallet jacks Ability to demonstrate and apply our workplace values Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment Education/Certification/Experience High School Diploma; and/or two-year degree from Community or Technical/Trade School; and/or one to three years of fast pace, high volume production experience; or equivalent combination education and experience. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday.
